"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" is directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Danny Strong and Peter Craig and produced by Nina Jacobson's Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the third in a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins that has over 65 million copies in print in the U.S. alone.

Natalie Dormer joins The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Parts 1 & 2

Lionsgate has just revealed that Natalie Dormer has been cast as Cressida in the final two chapters of the Hunger Games series, The Hunger Games: Mockinjay - Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2.


Cressida is a film director working in the Capitol who winds up joining the rebellion with her assistant, Messalla, and her cameramen, Castor and Pollux.


Dormer, best known for playing Margaery Tyrell on Game of Thrones, will soon be on the big screen in Ron Howard's Rush and Ridley Scott's The Counselor.

Stef Dawson joins The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Parts 1 & 2

Lionsgate has just revealed that Stef Dawson has been cast as Annie Cresta, Finnick’s (played by Sam Claflin) love interest, in the final two chapters of the Hunger Games series, The Hunger Games: Mockinjay - Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2.


A native of Australia's capital city, Canberra, Dawson is known for her work on television as well as numerous independent films including the recent thriller Wrath.

Evan Ross is The Hunger Games: Mockingjay's Messalla

Lionsgate has just announced that Evan Ross is set to play Messalla, Cressida's (Natalie Dormer) cameraman, in the final in the final two chapters of the Hunger Games series, The Hunger Games: Mockinjay - Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2.


Fans might recognize Ross from his recurring role as Charlie Selby on the modern 90210 or from his big screen credits, which include Jeff, Who Lives at Home, ATL and The Family Tree.

Julianne Moore confirmed for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2




Lionsgate today confirmed an earlier rumor that four-time Academy Award nominee Julianne Moore (Boogie Nights, The Hours, The End of the Affair, Far From Heaven) has joined the cast of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 as President Alma Coin, the leader of the rebellion against the Capitol.

Lily Rabe joins The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Parts 1 & 2




Lionsgate has just announced that Lily Rabe is set to play Commander Lyme in the final two chapters of The Hunger Games series, The Hunger Games: Mockinjay - Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2.

Rabe, best known for her role(s) on FX's "American Horror Story," has previously appeared on the big screen in films like All Good Things, No Reservations and What Just Happened?.

Robert Knepper joins The Hunger Games: Mockinjay

As they did with the casting for "Catching Fire," Lionsgate are using the Hunger Games Facebook page to make important casting announcements and the latest name added to the cast is Robert Knepper, who will play the role of Antonius in The Hunger Games: Mockinjay - Parts 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockinjay - Part 2.

A veteran character actor for nearly thirty years, Knepper is probably best known for his roles on TV in "Prison Break" and "Heroes" and also appeared in films such as Hitman and Transporter 3.

The character Antonius seems to be a bit of a mystery, because he doesn't seem to be from Suzanne Collins' book, but we assume that he's either someone new we'll meet in District 13 or someone from The Capitol.

Natalie Dormer shaves her head for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay

It was announced back in August that Natalie Dormer had been cast as Cressida in the final two chapters of the Hunger Games series, The Hunger Games: Mockinjay - Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2. Although the character is, in the original novel, described as being bald, Dormer debuted her Panem look this weekend at the SAG Awards red carpet, telling EW that she's been keeping the look a secret for months. “It’s been hidden for three months," she says. "It happened back in October. I was, you know, waiting for the right moment... Francis Lawrence, the director of 'Mockingjay,' and I discussed it and I took the job on the premise that I would possibly shave my whole head. I’m actually really pleased that we went halfway because I think it’s more the Capitol… and that’s where Cressida comes from. She comes from the Capitol, so she’s got a stylized thing going on and now she’s turned rebel. I think it’s right for the character.”

The Cressida character is that of a film director working in the Capitol, who winds up joining the rebellion with her assistant, Messalla, and her cameramen, Castor and Pollux.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 reveals new character posters!

Following the launch of the District 13 website at District13.co.in, Lionsgate has started rolling out new character posters featuring the cast of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1. By following clues at the viral site, fans have uncovered Jeffrey Wright's Beetee (via IGN), Woody Harrelson's Haymitch (via MTV) and the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman's Plutarch Heavensbee (via Yahoo! Movies). Three additional posters have meanwhile been found thanks to The Hunger Gamers fan site, although it appears they may have leaked early. You can check all six of them below!

Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss is back in a new still from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

A new image of Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen has debuted via EW today as part of a report that looks into the much-anticipated, two-film franchise finale that begins with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 on November 21 and concludes next year with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2. In it, director Francis Lawrence informs fans that the films will offer "two different, very distinct stories."

"Instead of changing the plot and changing characters what we did was have the opportunity to show scenes that could have been happening at different times in the book," says Francis Lawrence of the split. "For us it's world expansion instead of changing things. I think it’s exciting for the fan to see certain things. So we've been able to open the world up in this and see some new places. We get to see some new districts this time and the scope gets quite large."

The District 13 resistance has been making its presence known this week, tagging propaganda billboards erected by the Capitol.
