The Ghostbusters reboot cast revealed!

It’s official! Meet your new Ghostbusters! Paul Feig, the director of the upcoming reboot, just took to Twitter to reveal his new cast. Headlining the supernatural comedy are Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), Melissa McCarthy (The Heat, Tammy), Leslie Jones (“Saturday Night Live,” Top Five) and Kate McKinnon (“Saturday Night Live,” Life Partners).

A remake of director Ivan Reitman’s 1984 comedy classic, Feig’s take on the property is said to be targeting a scarier tone that will not maintain any continuity with the original film or its 1989 sequel (or the surprisingly continuity-heavy animated series “The Real Ghostbusters,” for that matter).

Back in September, original Ghostbusters star Bill Murray revealed his own “fan cast” for a female-driven franchise reboot, which included both McCarthy (his St. Vincent co-star) and Wiig alongside Linda Cardinelli (“Freaks and Geeks,” “Mad Men”) and Emma Stone (The Help, The Amazing Spider-Man).

Plans call for Ghostbusters to shoot this summer in New York. Check back for further details on the production as they become available!

The Ghostbusters release date revealed!




Paul Feig has just announced via Twitter that Ghostbusters will be released on July 22, 2016. There, it will face off against Power Rangers and Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur. Sony Pictures has, meanwhile, tweeted the below teaser image!

Leslie Jones tweets photo of the new Ghostbusters!

However you feel about a Ghostbusters reboot, it seems like even Vigo the Carpathian can’t stop it, but you can see the new recruits for the all-female revamp together in a candid photo snapped during the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary show.

As Tweeted by future floating phantasm removal expert Leslie Jones, the pic features Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Jones looking like they’re ready to take your call should you find an invisible man sleeping in your bed.

Chris Hemsworth is the new Ghostbusters receptionist!

Paul Feig’s upcoming Ghostbusters has just added Chris Hemsworth to its cast! Feig himself revealed the news via Twitter, confirming that the Thor star will play the team’s receptionist. He joins a cast that includes Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon as the Ghostbusters team.

Set photos reveal the new Ghostbusters!

Production officially started today in Boston on Bridesmaids, The Heat and Spy director Paul Feig’s new Ghostbusters film and the first set photos have started to arrive! Below, you can take a peek at the new characters played by Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy, courtesy of People, PopSugar, Just Jared and Entertainment Tonight. Currently MIA on the set is Leslie Jones, but it’s a pretty safe bet that we’ll be seeing the full team very soon!

Ghostbusters cast: Andy Garcia and Michael K. Williams join the 2016 release

TheWrap is reporting that Andy Garcia (Ocean’s Eleven, The Godfather Part III) and Michael K. Williams (“Boardwalk Empire,” Inherent Vice) have been added to the Ghostbusters cast.

Garcia will play the Mayor of New York City, originally portrayed by David Margulies in 1984’s Ghostbusters and 1989’s Ghostbusters II. Williams will be playing a character named “Hawkins,” having just finished co-starring with the reboot’s lead Kristen Wiig in IFC’s comedic miniseries “The Spoils Before Dying,”.

Ghostbusters Adds SNL writer Neil Casey as lead villain

Following the reveal yesterday that four more had joined the cast of Ghostbusters, Deadline brings word today that former “Saturday Night Live” writer Neil Casey has been cast as the lead villain of the film. Casey can also be seen in the Paul Feig-created Yahoo! series Other Space. Details on his character are being kept under wraps for the time being, but given the franchise’s history, it’s likely he’ll have something supernatural up his sleeve.

Chris Hemsworth spotted on the Ghostbusters set!

We learned earlier this year that Thor star Chris Hemsworth had signed on to play the new receptionist in director Paul Feig‘s upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. Now, thanks to new photos from the Boston, Massachusetts set, we’ve got a first look at the Chris Hemsworth Ghostbusters character, Kevin. If the jumpsuit is any indication, it looks like Kevin will be a little more hands-on when it comes to ghostbusting in comparison to Annie Potts’ Janine Melnitz in the original Ivan Reitman films.

Ernie Hudson to appear in Ghostbusters reboot

It was previously confirmed that former Ghostbusters Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd will have cameos in Paul Feig’s upcoming Ghostbusters reboot, and now The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Ernie Hudson will also appear in the film. It’s unclear what role he will have in the film, though the outlet reports he was spotted on set Saturday, the final day of shooting for the film.

With filming complete on Sony’s new Ghostbusters reboot and the surviving trio of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson all confirmed to have cameo roles, director Paul Feig has expressed his dismay at the surprises being spoiled for fans. Now it looks like another cat is out of the bag as, in anticipation of a leak, Feig himself has gone on Twitter to confirm that original co-star Sigourney Weaver (a.k.a. Dana Barrett, a.k.a. “The Gatekeeper”) will also take part in his new take on the property!

EW has debuted a new Ghostbusters photo and learned more about who Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy and Leslie Jones will be facing in the July 15, 2016 release.

“Dead criminals from all eras of New York’s underbelly past have returned to roost among the living in Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot. Pilgrims, old-timey sailors, Revolutionary War spirits, and even a couple of zoot-suited gangsters are ready to take on four formidable female busters looking to rid the city of its phantasmic filth,” says the magazine.
