More X-Men: Apocalypse photos from the set

Director Bryan Singer has released a few more cryptic X-Men: Apocalypse photos from the set of the film. The first he captioned “Reminds me of #area51,” and shows what appears to be some uniforms in display cases, though for who or what they look like remains a mystery. Singer also released a new image today which goes along very well with a previously-released piece of concept art for the film. Check them both out below!

X-Men: Apocalypse synopsis officially released

20th Century Fox and Mars Chocolate North America announced a partnership today between M&M’S and the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse and even released a cute image of the Yellow and Green M&M’S as Magneto and Storm (which you can see below). Tucked away in their press release, however, is the actually interesting part, the X-Men: Apocalypse synopsis! It reads as follows:

“Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.”

Bryan Singer teases a longer runtime for X-Men: Apocalypse

Speaking at the San Pedro International Film Festival, director Bryan Singer opened up about the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, revealing that it might be longer than previous X-Men films and that it has a moment culminating the entire series, which you’ll get to see in the film’s trailer.

“The cut’s a little long right now, but I think it’s going to be a longer X-Men movie. The X-Men movies I usually I keep under two hours, but this one I may actually let be a longer movie because it’s sort of a wrap-up of six movies. It’s kind of a wrap up of X-Men 1, 2, 3, First Class, Days of Future Past, and there’s even an homage at the end, a scene. Its going to get spoiled because they decided to use it in the trailer which comes out in like six months, but it’s a really cool trailer. But it’s kind of a wrap up of six movies. So, it might run a little bit long.”

You can check out the full video of Singer talking about the film, and working with Michael Fassbender, in the player below.

Evan Peters teases Quicksilver’s role in X-Men: Apocalypse

Despite a less-than-stellar reception to the first image of the character in X-Men: Days of Future Past, Evan Peters’ Quicksilver stole the show in the 2014 film and is set to return in next year’s X-Men: Apocalypse. Speaking with Details, Peters was asked about his role in the movie and gave an interesting answer.

“The story is that my character is searching for his father and wants to find him. It starts there and then he jumps on the X-Men train and gets sucked up in this whole Apocalypse madness: He tries to stop him from destroying the world.”

As fans of the comic series know, Quicksilver’s father is none other than Magneto (played by Michael Fassbender in the movie) and though Peters doesn’t confirm the relationship, it certainly makes the allusion to his parentage in “Days of Future Past” all the more interesting.

Peters went on to praise the film when asked if it would be the greatest X-Men movie of all time. “Absolutely. It’s the biggest X-Men film. It’s about the apocalypse, so the scope of the film is huge,” he said.

Magneto gets a power boost in X-Men: Apocalypse concept art

20th Century Fox (via EW) has released another new piece of X-Men: Apocalypse concept art showing off Michael Fassbender’s Magneto and his supercharged abilities, thanks to the titular Apocalypse.

“One of Apocalypse’s many powers is he can imbue other mutants with greater ones,” director Bryan Singer says. “Magneto is demonstrating a small taste of what he can do now. Magneto is already enormously powerful…. Now Apocalypse gives him powers far beyond what we’ve seen before.”
