"Wishing on a Star" is a 1978 hit single by Rose Royce for Whitfield Records.

Included on their second album, Rose Royce II: In Full Bloom, "Wishing on a Star" is a slow ballad written by former Undisputed Truth member Billie Rae Calvin and produced by Norman Whitfield. It was sung by Gwen Dickey under her stage name. The lyrics concern a woman longing for the return of an ex-lover so that they can resume their relationship. The original version of "Wishing on a Star" peaked at number 52 on the Billboard R&B singles chart. Despite this, the song was played every Saturday at noon on Boston's Kiss 108 radio for over two decades, ceasing around 2004. In the UK, the song reached number three in March 1978. The single was re-released as the X Factor's charity single for 2011. The single features JLS and One Direction.

The song was re-recorded by Miriam Stockley and used as the theme tune to the US television mini-series The 10th Kingdom, released in 2000.

LFO (initialism for Low Frequency Oscillation) were a British electronic music act on the Warp label. Considered to be pioneers of the bass-heavy techno, LFO released Frequencies (1991), Advance (1996), and Sheath (2003).[1] Originally, the group was composed of Gez Varley (born 1971), Martin Williams and Mark Bell(1971–2014).[2] After Varley left in 1996, LFO was Bell alone. Bell died in October 2014.

The group's name is derived from the abbreviation for the term low-frequency oscillator, a synthesizer function widely used in electronic music.
