I don't have words to say thank you for your amazing piece of software you wrote. I must say that Graphic equalizer studio changed rapidly the
way i knew music. Let me explain...
I am a hi end audiophile from Greece. I own a pair of ESL Martin Logan Ascent i speakers, Bryston 14 BSST power amp and the Bryston top range pre amp with external dc.
Everything ok. But i didn't ever imagined that the hardest part will be the cd player!
I've heard a lot of consumer hi end class A cd players (mark levinsons, esoteric, krell, and more). Nothing made me happy. Some recordings sounded well while others (the most) sounded bad. At the end i purchased Ayre Cx 7 cd player, which sounded better overall to me.
Finally, I built my Hi end sound system and i was happy (i thought!).
The problem: Very few recordings sounded well, or at least as it should sound! I was dissapointed, i ended with almost zero listening sessions...My ear was tired...
Till one day something made me search for equalizer software, wanting to fix the sound in contradiction of course with the Hi end philosophy (bullshits)...
Googled and i found Graphic equalizer studio. The automatic equalize option sounded interesting... I downloaded at my laptop (AC97 Sound card). After the install i executed the runtime EQ32studio loaded some wavs (EAC-lossless of course!)
and heard the sound from some old crappy JVC 80W 3-way speakers...
I COULDN'T BELIEVE MY EARS!
Suddenly, these descent speakers sounded unbelievable better! Bass control, awesome sound image....The simple Laptop sound card connected via a simple mini jack
made me go to the big system and do the crime! Connect it to the Bryston preamp...
I don't have words to describe what i heard after this... I couldn't believe it. The sound was Live! The difference was chaotic. This crappy sound card playing this??
I listened so many recordings...almost ALL my recordings... EQ32studio did the magic. After the equalization you could hear the real music, the artist's emotions
the reverb of the concert hall, you could just enjoy pure music...My father (musician) was thrilled with the sound.
Ok, i must say that i didn't have the Ayre's detail. It is just an AC97 realtek 16 bit 48000 sound card....i thought.
Without even thinking of it i took the big decision. I would go for an Htpc!
After some market research i purchased a quiet desktop Htpc with an onboard soundcard (and with a Plextor dvd of course) and i was going to the next step: The sound card...
After a more detailed research my choice was Lynx TWO-B. An amazing piece of hardware, beyond comparison, but...expensive!
The bill till now? 1200 euros the pc + 1000 euros the Lynx...
I must say that i was very anxious when i was connecting the sound card because i had already spent lot of money till here.
...I loaded a wav file... The music was there, everything was there for the first time in my life. I sat down for days and listened all my album collection... Hours of listening.
Even my wife noticed the difference...now i so much pleased, i say to my shelf, THIS IS IT! The end, total integration.
I want to thank you..
And, please let me suggest you some improvements.
I have to say that the interface is a little bit simple and the control of the playlist is non-existent.While i understand that the nature of this software is for professional use only. Below i sum up my suggestions:
1. Full control of what is playing. Play-Pause-Fast forward-skip track etc..., essential!
2. Every time a new track is played the equalizer must be flattened because the new setting (for the new track) takes time to finish.
3. While i saved the default settings (eq band 20-12000, q factor = 10 and compressor limiter UNCHECKED) every time i start the program
it persists CHECKING the compressor/limiter option. (which doesn't sound well on the ESL's).
4. Support of ASIO or Kernel streaming would be a big improvement
5. Is possible to do some upsampling? ( i know i am asking a lot, but i also know that some of these are easy for you and would give
to your software a lot!)
At the end let me tell you that i tried to play through foobar (as an interface) the wav's an send it through a virtual cable to eq32(duplex mode) but the sound lost
some stereo image, didn't sound as good as it was. I also tried the other program, the Spectrum analyzer pro live and the result wasn't as much
good as with the eq32studio...
Again,
THANK YOU,
I'm looking forward to hearing from you!!
