Naim Audio launches UnitiQute [$2.000, £1.350] as a smaller more compact all-in-one system than the NaimUniti.

"The UnitiQute is the first high-end remote controlled all-in-one 30wpc audio player to offer so many sources: FM & Internet Radio (plus DAB in supporting markets), MP3/iPod (authenticated digital iPod connection), streamed audio and USB.

Key to UnitiQute is its digital audio streaming capabilities. UnitiQute can wirelessly stream music stored on UPnP™ networked devices, providing access to even more music including increasingly popular hi-resolution 24/96 WAV or FLAC files. With its onboard 24bit/192kHz Wolfson DAC, UnitiQute is the ultimate audio source hub able to interface with digital audio sources such as computers and gaming consoles and the latest TVs.

UnitiQute combines proven analogue engineering derived from the NAIT 5i integrated amplifier with a large linear power supply, non-magnetic materials to reduce eddy currents significantly and top fit and finish. The front panel sports a USB input for iPod/MP3 players or USB memory stick playback, charging and content display; a 3.5mm input for both analog and digital sources; and a 3.5mm headphone input. Back panel connectivity includes analog i/o ports, four digital inputs, Ethernet and WiFi. There is a switchable bass contour for low-volume listening and bass management for sub/sat system.

Naim Audio's all-in-one NaimUniti (Art Dudley's review will be in the March issue) has officially spawned a little cutie, er, qute. Dubbed the UnitiQute, the new product includes most of the features of the Uniti, with a more modestly powered amp at 30W per channel into 8 ohms.

The Qute sports a handy USB connector on the front, multi-format tuner for FM and internet radio, SPDIF and Toslink digital inputs, analog inputs and outputs, networked drive connectivity, headphone jack on the front and a modest display to keep track.

Due for release in March, the Qute will retail for $1,995.
