Pixar drives onto Blu-ray this November

Walt Disney Home Entertainment has confirmed that Pixar's animated hit Cars will be driving onto Blu-ray in America on 6 November, with a UK release rumoured to be due around the same time.

Originally scheduled for release in June this year, the title appears to have been pushed back in order to implement exclusive new BD features. So, in addition to the extras that appeared on the DVD release last year, the BD version will also include a new deleted scene and a BD-J enhanced Car Finder, allowing the user to search for the more than 200 different cars featured in the movie, and even race the clock to find a specific car in a still frame.

However, as we didn't actually think Cars was up to par with Pixar's other movies, here at HCC we're much more excited by a subsequent announcement regarding the company.

On the same day (in America at least), Walt Disney Home Entertainment will release The Pixar Short Films Collection. This single-disc release features 13 of the company's short subjects, including the award-winning Geri's Game, For the Birds and One Man Band. Sadly, that is all that's known about the title to date. But hopefully WDHE will issue a full breakdown containing the technical specifications for the disc and a full rundown of all the short films it contains in the very near future.
