Blue Circle
BC27 and BC27pi Solid-State Phono Stages
BC27 MSRP: $595.00USD
The BC27 is a solid-state phono stage in a small slim-line chassis designed to tuck neatly away or even hang on the back of a shelf behind the turntable. This allows for much shorter tone arm cabling and helps preserve the signal from the phono cartridge.
Features:
*Blue Circle output capacitors
*high-low gain adjustment
*HexFred rectifier
*Stereo/mono switch
*Compact audio signal path for low noise
*All hand wired - no printed circuit boards are used in the BC27 or BC27pi.
*Low output impedance for driving long cables
*Phono overload: high gain...>9mv low gain....>60mv
THE BC27pi
BC27pi MSRP: $1395.00 USD
No matter how much money is spent on esoteric signal wiring, capacitors and related hardware a phono stage just won't perform up to it's real potential with an inadequate power supply. We're even including the BC27 here. It's a killer for the price but with a no-holds-barred power supply it would be ever so much better. That's why there is a BC27pi.
The BC27pi is a BC27 with a power supply that would shame some power amplifiers. The difference in performance is definitely not subtle.
The BC27pi has all the features of the BC27
Plus:
*Over 200,000uF of capacitance in the power supply. Yes, we're serious. The BC27pi has more capacitance than some 150 watt power amps. Unplug it and it will keep playing for up to two minutes! We have found that an extremely stable power supply is absolutely critical for top performance. Need we mention that brown-outs are not a problem?
*Custom designed 75VA transformer in a seperate chassis.
*5 ft Blue Circle DC cord.
*Both channels have their own LED to ensure that the same amount of current draws from each channel.
Yes. The BC27 is upgradeable to the BC27pi.
