There was a long time when I thought the Magnepan MG 1.6es had no competition in their price bracket. They are sonically sophisticated, and they just plain look cool -- more like attractive dressing screens or room dividers than loudspeakers. "Unusual" and "unique" describe them well.

Mating planar and dynamic drivers to a powered subwoofer, the Strata Minis aren't really like any other speakers on the market. They offer some distinct sonic virtues, including powerful bass and a music-friendly demeanor, and only a few areas in which they show obligatory cost-cutting measures. Being made in China, however, means that there are fewer of these compromises than you’ll find in a domestic speaker of the same price. Toss in their fabulous looks and you might find yourself the proud new owner -- with domestic harmony as an added bonus.

It looks as though Mark Schifter has forgotten none of what he learned at Audio Alchemy. Based on my experience with the Strata Minis, AV123 is making "unusual" and "unique" speakers for audiophiles on a budget and putting a new spin on the Chinese influx into high-end audio."

Άλλο ένα θετικότατο review... Φαίνεται ωραίο εργαλείο στα χρήματα αυτά αλλά δεν νομίζω να τα φέρνει κάποιος στη χώρα μας.

"How much would you expect to pay for a 3-way floorstander equipped with planar magnetic drivers and an onboard 350-watt 8" sub, all packaged in a handsome Rosewood veneer finish? $4,000? $6,000? How does $1,995 per pair strike you?

According to AV123, the Strata Mini is a 3.5-way loudspeaker. Driver complement includes a 1" circular planar magnetic tweeter, an 8" planar magnetic midrange, a 5.25" multi-layer Atohm dynamic midbass coupler and a rear mounted 8" mass-loaded paper woofer driven from its own 350-watt class A/B amp. Frequency range is 27Hz-35kHz (± 3dB), nominal impedance 8 ohms and sensitivity is rated at 86dB @1watt/1meter. The crossover point for the 8" subwoofer is user definable from 30Hz to 150Hz. The Atohm 5.25" midbass coupler located in its own critically damped chamber kicks in at 80Hz, which in turn crosses over to the 8" planar magnetic midrange driver at 650Hz. At 4100Hz, the 1" planar magnetic tweeter takes over up to 35kHz. Overall dimensions are 47" H x 17.5" D x 11.5" W. Weighing in at 94 lbs, each pair ships in pallet mounted crates for a grand total of 315 lbs. The gently curved front panel is veneered in a lovely real-wood South American Rosewood. For an additional cost, a high-gloss piano black finish is available in limited quantities. The Mini sits on a quartet of serious looking solid brass cones. Also included are brass cups to prevent the speakers from punching holes through your floor. At 94 lbs each, they most assuredly would.

The Strata Mini gets my top recommendation for those looking for an affordable full-range speaker with onboard subs. It offers a pleasing, full-bodied, slightly warm tonal balance with all the visceral bottom end you'll ever need, all wrapped up in an attractive room and wallet-friendly package. And it won't jam ice picks through your ears with that hyped-up treble that typifies so many of today's speakers. Sounding bright, edgy or analytical is simply not in the Strata's job description. As far as I can tell, the Strata Mini has no competition at this
price point. If you are looking for a full-range speaker that will integrate in a wide range of rooms and systems and is equally at home in 2-channel audio as well as home theater, then by all means, put the Strata Mini on your list."

JD: Mark Schifter and our own Danny Richie strike again with yet another great sounding speaker at an incredible bargain price from AV123.com. This time they tackle the open baffle concept with great success. The X-Static was smooth with room filling response and a huge sound stage.

The x-statik features a 2" front baffle and a 1” braced, high quality MDF cabinet designed to minimize enclosure resonances. They are then wrapped in a real wood veneer or beautifully finished in a silky-smooth satin black. The hand finished x-series speakers are right at home with fine furniture, and look far more expensive than their price suggests.

Housed in this beautiful enclosure are a pair custom built Peerless India 6.5" curvilinear shaped treated paper cones along with an all new Peerless India fabric dome tweeter – all in an open baffle alignment. Below this combination is another pair of Peerless India 6.5” woofers in a sealed enclosure. These custom made drive units use a polymer chassis to prevent transmission of resonances to the front baffle. The voice coil of the driver is vented on the outside through the frame and pole piece for improved reliability and power handling. The crossover features high quality components including Sonicap bypass capacitors.

We got a sneak peak of AV123's new LS6 and LS9 line source loudspeakers at the 2007 Rocky Mountain Audiofest show, and they were causing quite a stir. AV123 also just recently announced a new smaller sibling, the LS4, to complete the set. That is unless Mark Schifter decides to make an LS12 for bragging rights.

Sean Parque and Danny Richie are heading up the build team in the US, and with the current changes the speakers are expected to be even better than what was displayed at RMAF.

Ηχείο 4 δρόμων με ενεργό sub και Planar μεγάφωνο με μόνο $1995;

Εδώ μας λένε πως το χάι ενδ ξεκινά από τα 5000€ και αυτοί τολμάνε να πουλάνε τέτοιο ηχείο τόσο φθηνά;
