Baywatch movie adds Zac Efron to lifeguard with Dwayne Johnson

When Channing Tatum parodied his heartthrob bro image in 21 Jump Street, it showed off his comedic versatility and increased his star profile. Now it looks like Zac Efron (Neighbors, That Awkward Moment) has found his own nostalgic meta TV show adaptation in Paramount Pictures’ Baywatch movie, which The Hollywood Reporter confirms he will co-star in alongside the previously-announced Dwayne Johnson.

After the success of Neighbors, Efron is on a bit of a comedy tear, with Dirty Grandpa (opposite Robert De Niro), Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates (opposite Anna Kendrick) and Neighbors 2 (reuniting him with Seth Rogen) all on the horizon for 2016.

Alexandra Daddario Reteams with Dwayne Johnson for Baywatch

Following word earlier this month that seven actresses were up for one of the female leads in Baywatch, Dwayne Johnson has now confirmed that his San Andreas co-star Alexandra Daddario has landed the role of Summer and that we’ll find out who plays C. J. Parker (played by Pamela Anderson in the series) in the movie adaptation soon. Johnson said:

IT’S OFFICIAL: Want to welcome the talented and gorgeous @alexannadaddario to the cast of #BAYWATCH for the role of “Summer”. Alex is a one of kind woman (I know from experience) and can’t wait for you guys to see her own the role.

When Alexandra Daddario landed the role of Summer in the upcoming Baywatch movie adaptation, star Dwayne Johnson stated, “And juuuuust wait til you guys see who we cast for the iconic role of C.J. Parker….” Well wait no longer, panting readers, as Variety reports that the coveted role has gone to model-turned-actress Kelly Rohrbach, who fills in that red swimsuit once form-fitted around model-turned-actress Pamela Anderson.

Hannibal Buress joins the Baywatch movie

Comedian Hannibal Buress has joined the cast of the upcoming Baywatch movie at Paramount Pictures. The Broad City star will play a bay local opposite Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach and Priyanka Chopra. Look for this one to hit the big screen May 19, 2017.

Filming has started for Paramount Pictures‘ upcoming Baywatch movie, and stars Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron have shared the first photos. You can view the Baywatch set photos below!

In his post, Johnson said: “My character “Mitch Buchannon” just gave Zac Efron’s character “Matt Brody” the all important beach speech about what it means to have manly “Alpha balls”. Zac’s ad-libbed responses were brilliant! Talented and great dude. World get ready to have some fun, ’cause the beach will never be the same again.”

Efron added: “First day protecting the bay is a wrap. Thanks to the big guy (Dwayne). Stay tuned. More adventures lie ahead.”

Dwayne Johnson shares a new Baywatch photo

New details have emerged today regarding Paramount Pictures‘ currently filming Baywatch movie. Leading man Dwayne Johnson took to Instagram to share the above Baywatch photo, which shows off his and Zac Efron‘s characters inside a lifeguard boat called “Rescue 2.” Johnson explains that there is some animosity between both characters and also teases an impressive “Rescue 1” that will be revealed later. David Hasselhoff joins the Baywatch movie!

The Hoff is back! Dwayne Johnson took to his social channels tonight to announce that David Hasselhoff is joining the cast of Paramount Pictures‘ currently-filming Baywatch movie. Hasselhoff played L.A. County Lifeguard Mitch Buchannon in the “Baywatch” series. He produced “Baywatch” from the 1990s until 2001, when the series ended with “Baywatch Hawaii.”

Dwayne Johnson has revealed new Baywatch photos and announced more cast members for the May 19, 2017 release. Joining the Paramount Pictures release are Belinda Peregrín, Izabel Goulart, and Charlotte McKinney!

“Now in real life these ladies never need saving. They’re bad ass, keep their game strong and super cool to work with,” says Johnson. “Buuuuuuuut in our movie, their ‘characters’ need saving and… well… there’s only one man for the job… not Batman, definitely not Superman, not those Avengers. But the one and only big, brown, bald, tattooed guy who drives a jet ski on the ocean and a pick up truck on the land. Tough job my friends, but hell, somebody’s gotta do it.”
