BD-Live Arrives for PS3
Late last night, Sony Computer Entertainment released the much anticipated firmware update that enables BD-Live features to be played on the PlayStation 3 (PS3). Once the firmware is downloaded and installed, users will be able to download additional content for titles, as well as access web-based features such as interactive games and community applications.
For those Blu-ray fans who already own Lionsgate releases with BD-Live features, such as 'Saw IV' or 'War', you will very soon be able to check out the MoBlog and interactive web-based game included with those titles.
The upcoming Sony Pictures titles 'Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story' and 'The 6th Day' both will feature BD-Live features, now accessible on your PS3.
With this upgrade, the PS3 will become the first available BD-Live Blu-ray player on the market The first standalone BD-Live Blu-ray player will be the Panasonic DMP-BD50, which is expected to be released this May. New BD-Live titles are expected shortly from other movie studios.
