Cumbia is a Colombian folk dance music. Typical instrumental mix includes guitars, accordions , brass, and deep-toned drums and other percussion.
The basic rhythm structure is 4/4.

Cumbia is the net intersection of three cultures that settled in Colombia at different times: indigenous peoples, Spanish/Moorish and African slaves. Some claim that Cumbia began as a courtship dance among the slave population. It has now spread to the "world music" community and is highly popular in the latin music scene.

Cumbia is very popular in all of South America, and there are lots of different flavors of it. It can be compared to country music and dance orchestras; you either hate it or love it. It is also the music that bus drivers all over South America play to keep awake.

O όρος "cumbia" προέρχεται από τη λεκτική ρίζα KUMB που στη Δυτική Αφρική εννοεί το θόρυβο. Επίσης στη Γουινέα ήταν γνωστός ένας χορός με το όνομα "cumbe", που πέρασε στην Αμερική.

Καθοτι πως μπορουσες να φανταστεις το...Κολομβιανο παρελθον μου?
Πεντε χρονια δεσμου ηταν αυτα.

Λοιπον η Cumbia ειναι μουσικη των παραλιων της Κολομβιας και εχει αμεση επιδραση απο Καραιβικη μερια.

Ισως το πιο γνωστο κομματι σε ολους μας ειναι το La Colegiala (ειναι μεσα στην συλλογη που προτεινεις)

Θα σε ενδιεφερε ισως να μαθεις πως οταν πουλησα την συλλογη βινυλιων μου(1985) για να στραφω εξ ολοκληρου στον ψηφιακο ηχο(τρομαρα μου) ο δισκος που επιασε την υψηλοτερη τιμη ηταν Cumbia, Κολομβιανης εγγραφης και περιειχε το αυθεντικο La Colegiala μαζι με πολλα αλλα διαμαντακια.
Τιμη που τον εδωσα τοτε:20.000 δρχ

gangsta rap των Η.Π.Α.?

Το "LA COLEGIALA" είναι διασκευασμένο και παιγμένο σε cumbia style. Είναι σύνθεση του Walter Leon.
Κυρίως στην Cartagena άνθησε και μετά διαδόθηκε παραπέρα.

ANICETO MOLINA a/k/a "El Tigre Sabanero", the "Ambassador of Cumbia Vallenato" is well known for his hits, "Josefina", "Apartamento # 3", "La Burra Tuerta", "El Condor Legendario", "La Campanera" and especially known for his interpretation of the mega hit, "La Cumbia Sampuesana".

Originally from the town of El Campano, Colombia, Aniceto Molina began his musical career at the age of 12 playing the accordion. As the years passed he continued to tour and record throughout Central America. From 1973 to 1984 he lived in Mexico City and during this time he recorded albums and toured extensively throughout Mexico and began to tour the U.S. Seeing that his music made a lasting impression in the United States, he decided to make San Antonio, TX his home in the summer of 1984. Aniceto Molina continues to tour throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America. His first production for A.R.C. Discos is "Como Siempre, Echando Pa' lante".
