fears of vendors stopping supply of diamond tips

I was reading in another forum that there may come a day when vendors may stop supplying diamond tips which go into the stylus due to low volumes. What will happen to all of us who love vinyl? We all know that Shure has discontinued one of its cartridge lines due to lack of support from suppliers.

Am I being hyper or are my fears justified?
