Channing Tatum will play the X-Men character Gambit. He will debut in 2016's "X-Men: Apocalypse" right before appearing in his own solo spin-off film. Created by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee in 1990, the New Orleans native mutant quickly became a fan favorite due to his kinetic energy manipulation abilities and penchant for stealing. The character's only big screen appearance to date (outside his name being featured as an Easter egg in "X2") was in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," played by Taylor Kitsch.

Rupert Wyatt to direct Channing Tatum in Gambit

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that English director Rupert Wyatt has been tapped by 20th Century Fox to helm the X-Men solo reboot/spin-off movie Gambit, which will star Channing Tatum as the title anti-hero Remy LeBeau.

Wyatt is best known to genre fans for resurrecting Fox’s stagnant “Planet of the Apes” franchise with 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but even more appropriately he helmed last year’s The Gambler, which ties into Gambit’s affinity for playing cards. High-profile helmers Bennett Miller and Darren Aronofsky were previously approached for the project but passed.

Tatum recently spoke about playing the The Ragin’ Cajun, describing the film as an unconventional origin story and the character of Remy himself as, “kind of a tortured soul and he’s not a good guy. But he’s not a bad guy, either. He walks his own path. And of course he plays cards and drinks and is a martial-arts badass!”

With a screenplay by Josh Zetumer (RoboCop), Gambit will be produced by Tatum and his creative partner Reid Carolin, along with “X-Men” franchise stewards Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner. It is scheduled for release October 7, 2016.

Channing Tatum exits X-Men spinoff Gambit?

There’s a major shakeup today on 20th Century Fox’s side of the Marvel Universe as The Wrap is reporting that Channing Tatum is planning to exit the upcoming X-Men spinoff, Gambit. The film was planned to go before cameras in October, although Tatum’s exit would leave the film’s future uncertain.

It was recently announced that Gambit would be directed by Rise of the Planet of the Apes helmer Rupert Wyatt with casting reports coming in as recently as yesterday. Today’s update claims Tatum had been involved with screentests for the fim’s female lead with Blue is the Warmest Color and SPECTRE‘s Lea Seydoux among the actresses reading for the part.

Channing Tatum signs his Gambit deal!

Despite a report late last month saying that Channing Tatum’s deal for the Gambit movie was in jeopardy of falling apart and that he was planning to exit the X-Men spin-off at 20th Century Fox, The Hollywood Reporter says that the deal has now closed for the actor to star and produce.

According to the trade, the negotiations did hit a sensitive spot, but there was never any real danger of it not moving forward. His commitment to the role could possibly last more than a decade, much like how Hugh Jackman has appeared in many X-Men and solo films as Wolverine.

Bella Donna Boudreaux is the female lead in Gambit

Late last month, word broke that negotiations appeared to be falling through to have Channing Tatum headline 20th Century Fox’s X-Men spinoff, Gambit. At that time, it was said that Blue is the Warmest Color and SPECTRE star Lea Seydoux was among the actresses reading to appear opposite the Magic Mike headliner. As it turned out, Tatum wound up officially signing last week and Deadline today has an update on the film’s female lead. Not only does the outlet claim that Seydoux is still in the running, but they also name two other actresses allegedly on the “short list” for the role: Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation‘s Rebecca Ferguson and Mad Max: Fury Road‘s Abbey Lee. What’s more, they claim that the role in question is — as has been widely speculated — that of Bella Donna Boudreaux.

Bella Donna Boudreaux was created by Jim Lee and Scott Lobdell and made her first appearance in 1992’s “X-Men” Vol. 2 #8. The daughter of the leader of the New Orleans Assassins’ Guild, Bella was Remy LeBeau’s first love. LeBeau, a member of the Thieves’ Guild, wound up marrying Bella as part of an arranged ceremony to unite the guilds. Things went bad fast, however, and Gambit was forced to flee New Orleans. Soon thereafter, Bella developed her own mutant ability not entirely dissimilar to Gambit’s. She can create plasma bursts at will.

Lea Seydoux offered Gambit female lead

With the actress already said to be on the short list for the X-Men spinoff earlier this month, Deadline is reporting that Blue is the Warmest Color star Lea Seydoux has now been offered the Gambit female lead.

As was previously reported, the character Seydoux would play is that of Bella Donna Boudreaux (see an image from her first appearance below). Created by Jim Lee and Scott Lobdell, the character made her first appearance in 1992’s “X-Men” Vol. 2 #8. Director Rupert Wyatt exits Gambit movie

In a story that appears to still be breaking, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that director Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Gambler) has exited his role as helmer of the upcoming X-Men spinoff feature, Gambit. Both Channing Tatum and Lea Seydoux remain attached to the feature, which had planned to shoot in New Orleans next spring.

“I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox,” says Wyatt, “but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.”

Wyatt’s departure isn’t the first setback to befall Gambit. Back in July, it was revealed that leading man Channing Tatum was dropping out of the project, although the 21 Jump Street star ended up working out a deal to headline the following month.

Δεν έχει ανακοινωθεί νέα ημερομηνία για την ταινία. Τα rewrites σενάριων δεν ωφέλησαν κανέναν, ας ελπίσουμε να μην το επηρεάσει όπως επηρέασε το πρώτο Wolverine.

Τα γυρίσματα θα ξεκινήσουν τέλη του 2016.

X-Men: αλληλούια, το Gambit απέκτησε ημερομηνία πρεμιέρας

Όλα δείχνουν, πλέον, ότι η παραγωγή της ταινίας για τον ταλαντούχο μεταλλαγμένο της Marvel είναι πράγματι ψηλά στις προτεραιότητες της Fox και δεν προχωρά απλά κανονικά, αλλά πατάει και τέρμα το γκάζι, ώστε μετά από πολλές καθυστερήσεις, ανάμεσά τους και δύο αποχωρήσεις σκηνοθετών, να κάνει πρεμιέρα στις 14 Φεβρουαρίου 2019.

Στον ρόλο του ικανότατου κλέφτη με τα "φλεγόμενα" μάτια, τη μακριά καμπαρτίνα, το ταλέντο στα χαρτιά και το αγαπημένο του ραβδί bo, θα εμφανιστεί ως γνωστό ο Channing Tatum, ο οποίος θα έχει και ρόλο παραγωγού στην ταινία που θα κληθεί να δικαιώσει τις προσδοκίες πολλών φαν για έναν από τους πιο αγαπημένους χαρακτήρες από τα κόμικ των X-Men.
