The term 'affordable' means different things to different people, but in the case of Danish hi-fi company GamuT it reckons the term is applicable to its new £3650 Si100 integrated amplifier.

According to the press release we've been sent, "the GamuT Si100 features the same state-of-the-art build quality, the exquisite reproduction of instruments and voices and the awesome dynamics and resolution of fine detail that distinguish a GamuT product." So, no modesty there then.

We'll reserve judgement on the Si100's performance until we've thoroughly tested it, but here are a few more details to whet your appetite.

The cabinet is made from aluminium and stainless steel, the amp has a single power MOS-FET output circuit, there's a hefty power supply with high bandwidth and low impedance, plus six inputs and an optional 'home theatre direct' input.

Power output is 130w at 8 ohms, it weighs in at a substantial 20Kg and is guaranteed for two years.
