Following the global success of 2014’s “Godzilla” and this year’s “Kong: Skull Island,” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse: an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown to star in Godzilla: King of the Monsters!

Legendary has announced today that Stranger Things breakout Millie Bobby Brown is set to star in the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters, the sequel to 2014’s Godzilla. She was recently nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award and People’s Choice Award for her portrayal of “Eleven” in the Netflix series.

Brown is the first cast member to be revealed for the upcoming sequel, which is being written by Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘r Treat, Krampus) and Zach Shields, with Dougherty set to direct.

It remains to be seen what the plot for the upcoming sequel will be, but Legendary previously announced the addition of several more Toho kaiju, including Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah, is possible and potentially some original monsters like the 2014 film’s MUTO.

Kyle Chandler will take on Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Having previously faced a giant movie monster in J.J. Abrams‘ Super 8, Kyle Chandler is set to take on Legendary and Warner Bros. Pictures‘ Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Variety has the news, reporting that Chandler will play the father of Millie Bobby Brown’s character. Brown, as Stranger Things fans well know, was the breakout star of the hit Netflix series and the first name announced to headline the upcoming Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘r Treat, Krampus) sequel to Gareth Edwards’ 2014 Godzilla.

Vera Farmiga joins Godzilla: King of the Monsters

With Kyle Chandler (Super 8) having already been cast to play the father of Millie Bobby Brown’s character in Legendary and Warner Bros. Pictures‘ Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Variety is reporting that Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring 1 & 2, Bates Motel) has signed on to play her mom. Brown, as Stranger Things fans well know, was the breakout star of the hit Netflix series and the first name announced to headline the upcoming Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘r Treat, Krampus) sequel to Gareth Edwards’ 2014 Godzilla.

O’Shea Jackson Jr. joins Legendary’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters

According to Variety, Legendary and Warner Bros. Pictures‘ sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters is adding Straight Outta Compton star O’Shea Jackson Jr. to the cast, while adding that Ken Watanabe’s Monarch scientist character Dr. Ishiro Serizawa is likely to be the only original cast member to return.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters cast adds two

The Godzilla: King of the Monsters cast has grown today with the addition of both Sally Hawkins and Charles Dance. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Hawkins will be reprising the Dr. Vivienne Graham role from Gareth Edwards’ 2014 Godzilla, while Deadline broke that Dance has signed on to play an undisclosed role in the Michael Dougherty film.

Thomas Middleditch joins Godzilla sequel

Thomas Middleditch, best known for headlining HBO‘s Silicon Valley, is the latest star to join the cast of Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Variety has the news, reporting that Middleditch will join an ensemble cast that includes Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds and Charles Dance, as well as the returning Sally Hawkins and Ken Watanabe.

Following a report yesterday of the addition of Silicon Valley star Thomas Middleditch to its cast, Godzilla: King of the Monsters has now (per Variety) added Bradley Whitford to its monstrous ensemble. His Godzilla character has not yet been revealed.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters casts Crouching Tiger star Zhang Ziyi

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon star Zhang Ziyi has just joined the Legendary and Warner Bros. cinematic MonsterVerse and will star in the upcoming film, Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Legendary announced that they’ve closed a deal with Zhang Ziyi in a major franchise role, beginning with the next Godzilla film opposite Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford and Ken Watanabe. The film is set several years after the events of the 2014 Godzilla, and the character is a significant figure within the covert Monarch organization established in that film. Godzilla: King of the Monsters will hit theaters on March 22, 2019. The film will be directed by Michael Dougherty.
