Juliette Binoche up for Godzilla

Juliette Binoche is the latest name said to be in talks to join Gareth Edwards' reboot of the Godzilla franchise. Variety reports that the Three Colors trilogy star will potentially join Aaron Johnson, Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen for the May 16, 2014 release.


Binoche most recently appeared in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis and can soon be seen in the upcoming French project Camille Claudel, 1915.

Godzilla adds Sally Hawkins

Sally Hawkins has signed on to join the cast of Gareth Edwards' reboot of the Godzilla franchise. Deadline reports that the Happy-Go-Lucky star will star alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston in the May 16, 2014 release.


Based on the classic monster from Toho Co., Ltd, Godzilla is one of the most widely recognized movie monsters worldwide, having been featured in more than 25 films, multiple television programs, video games and book series. Legendary, which has been developing the film project, and its partner Warner Bros. is planning to return the character to its epic roots with a gritty, realistic actioner.


Hawkins, who recently starred in Mike Newell's Great Expectations, can soon be seen in Phil Morrison's holiday comedy Almost Christmas.

Legendary Pictures just posted a new behind-the-scenes photo of director Gareth Edwards setting up a shot for his version of Godzilla in what looks like a subway car being attacked by Godzilla, which any Godzilla fan would know as a classic moment from the earlier Godzilla films.

A new set photo hints at Godzilla's path of destruction




Legendary has tweeted a new image from the set of Gareth Edwards' upcoming Godzilla and it implies that we'll see the evacuation of the Farallon Islands, an area of land roughly 30 miles from the coast of San Francisco, where an attack by the Kaiju beast has been confirmed for the 2014 release. If we're to assume that Godzilla is moving west to east in the film, it's a good bet (although unconfirmed) that the creature's origins will fall somewhere in the vicinity of Japan.

New Godzilla set photo teases underground laboratory




Though none of the set photos from the upcoming Godzilla reboot have shown the monster, or even teased his new look, they're still interesting to see. This latest image comes with the caption "What's behind the radioactive containment doors?" Could it be what causes Godzilla's growth spurt in the first place?

New set video for Godzilla shows Hawaii in ruin




We reported back in April that the upcoming Godzilla remake would be stopping in Hawaii for a brief period of its shoot and production has finally made its way there. Gareth Edwards talks potential Godzilla sequel

Though Warner Bros.' upcoming remake of Godzilla doesn't come out for another year, the film's director has already dropped a tidbit on where a sequel to the film could go. In an interview with Screen Rant, the director was asked which film from the original series was his favorite, and he gave a good answer.


“"With the exception of the 1954 original, I would say my second favorite film is Destroy All Monsters. I just love the idea of a monster island. Having a world with these creatures in it. I find that fascinating and would like to treat that realistically. I wouldn’t want to limit it to one other foe, I think it’s more fun to – this question will come back to haunt me if we ever do a sequel – but I think multiple creatures make better movies in terms of the image of Gojira.”"


The original Destroy All Monsters featured eleven different monsters throughout the film, so Edwards has some even bigger shoes to fill should a sequel get made.

Composer Alexandre Desplat joins Gareth Edwards' Godzilla

Five-time Academy Award nominee Alexandre Desplat is set to provide the score for director Gareth Edwards' upcoming Godzilla, says an update from Film Music Reporter.


Desplat, nominated for his work on Argo, The King's Speech, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Queen, also provided the score for Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty and will next take on George Clooney's The Monuments Men.
