Gamescom: Gran Turismo 5 Gameplay part 1

The folks at Gamersyde have managed to snare a video of GT5 being played on the floor at the GamesCom gathering in Cologne.

The action takes place on Tokyo Route 246, heralding a welcome return of a much-loved track, with the driver in charge of a 2009 Subaru Impreza WRC in cockpit view up against nine others. There isn’t, as yet, any evidence of weather or day/night cycles, but it is GT5 and it is playable!
Edit: Some of our eagle-eyed viewers have spotted that in the smaller screen to the side of the main screen, the Impreza being driven by someone else crashes and the door pops open… This suggests that damage is included and optional…

August 18, GamesCom, held in Cologne, Germany:
Gran Turismo 5 has been announced! Here is the latest information on the game design: ■ models included
1,000 vehicles
170 Premium new models (full interior modeling, the interior corresponds to vehicle damage)
830 kinds of standard model (some are from Gran Turismo 4 that have been carried over to GT5) [Read: Cars we have seen in GT4 before ]
■ Courses
60 courses confirmed with 20 or more to be revealed
■ physical simulation of vehicles
Physics system simulation is brand new
Represented is full fall in vehicles [possibly rollover]
Damage representation (reproduced in full by real-time collision deformation)

Gran Turismo 5 Playable at GamesCom Today (18/08/09)




An early walkthrough this morning of the GamesCom show floor has revealed Gran Turismo 5 will be in playable form today. There are clearly two different types of displays for the game: one featuring PSP’s, and the other with steering wheels and HDTV’s. We also have further confirmation from the Japanese “Express” magazine, which states that “”GT5 will be playable at Gamescom and next will be at Tokyo Game Show.” Check out the video after the jump to get a closer look at the Gran Turismo booth (visible after 1:25)!

Microsoft’s Excited About “Gran Tourismo 5″, Too (16/08/09)

Here’s a little something to make you smile while we wait for Sony’s press conference at GamesCom on Tuesday… Gran Turismo 5 got some unexpected promotion on one of the most-visited websites in the world. The problem, of course, is that website was MSN.com – wholly owned and operated by Microsoft. The MSN editors are apparently unaware of the heated rivalry between their parent company’s own Forza Motorsport series and GT, and to make matters worse, they misspelled “Turismo” in the headline. Of course, it didn’t take long for word of the ‘mistake’ to hit our own forums, and Galvanise at NeoGAF managed to grab this screenshot. Good catch!

Real Life vs. Gran Turismo: Corvette ZR1

It’s always fun to compare real-life photographs with screenshots from Gran Turismo, and it looks like that’s exactly what Polyphony Digital had in mind when they released this batch of Corvette ZR1 images from Gran Turismo PSP last week. Coincidentally (or not!), the camera angles match up quite nicely to Chevrolet’s official ZR1 photos, making it simple for us to place them side-by-side. Can you tell what’s real and what’s not? I’ve intentionally left these shots unlabeled, to make it a bit more fun. If you’re confused, just ask around in the comments below.

Όταν επιλέγεις αυτοκίνητα. Είναι άλλο μοντέλο αυτό, άλλο αυτό που συμμετέχει στο παιχνίδι... Το μόνο που μετράει είναι τα real time rendered μοντέλα μέσα στο παιχνίδι. Τα άλλα, με τους baked προκαθορισμένουν φωτισμούς τα ξέρουμε από παλιά...

Και επαναλαμβάνω.......
Ακόμα και στο παιχνίδι, το GT έχει τρομερή απεικόνιση φωτοσκιάσεων, αντανακλάσεων, συντονισμών κίνησης κοκ.
Και το εντυπωσιακότερο όλων είναι πως ακόμα και σε τεράστια επιφάνεια από βιντεοπροβολέα, εξακολουθούν όλα να φαίνονται εντυπωσιακά, γυαλιστερά και με σωστά χρώματα.....
Και δεν αναφέρομαι στην επιλογή οχήματος.....

Δεν αξίζει να χαλάσουμε το thread μπαίνοντας σε συγκρίσεις, αλλά κάνε σύγκριση παιχνιδιών και θα δεις την ανωτερότητα ακόμα και στα οπτικά του GT........
Μέχρι και την microsoft εντυπωσίασε....:138: :142:

Δεν εντιλέγω βρε Γιάννη... Αλλά άλλα τα μοντέλα που μας δείχνουν σε κοντινά, και άλλα τα μοντέλα που χρησιμοποιούνται μέσα στο παιχνίδι. Και να στο πω αλλιώς: Θα ήταν εντελώς ηλίθιο αν χρησιμοποιούσαν τόση λεπτομέρεια που δεν φαίνεται σε μοντελό μέσα στο παιχνίδι...

Ποτέ δεν διαφώνησα: το GT5 έχει τα καλύτερα γραφικά(*) και είναι το καλύτερο παιχνίδι. :136:
(*) Σε σχέση με το FM2 πχ που εμφανίστηκε πριν 3 χρόνια... :142:

Βρε Σπύρο, στου Χυτήρογλου οι προβολείς έχουν πρόβλημα.....
Το μαύρο το δείχνουν.............άσπρο :138:
Στόχος μας είναι και το 1080p αλλά και το σωστό μαύρο (αλλά όχι απαραίτητα σε ψεύτικα 100000:1 :126: )

SCEE President Comments on Gran Turismo 5 (19/08/09)

When the staff at VG247 got the chance to interview SCEE president Andrew House, they didn’t hesitate to ask him directly about why we didn’t get the Gran Turismo 5 release date announcement that everyone was expecting. His response:

“I am not going to make a prediction on that but I think you will see something on GT5 very soon.”

After the bizarre roller-coaster that has been GamesCom, even more people will be looking for solid GT5 details at the Tokyo Game Show, coming up September 24-27. As we have speculated for some time now, history shows that Polyphony Digital loves presenting information in front of a home crowd – but we’ll just have to wait and see…
