The High Definition TV channel Euro1080 HD1 now on Hellas Sat with pan-European coverage
The High Definition Broadcaster Euro1080 is now transmitting over Hellas-Sat 2 with pan-European coverage for the first time. HELLAS SAT and Euro1080 came to an agreement last week to make the first European HDTV channel HD1 available to all countries receiving the Hellas-Sat 2 satellite through its pan-European beam.
This important commercial agreement will allow a number of new countries in Southeastern Europe and around the Mediterranean Sea to receive HDTV as an extension to the initial Euro1080 HDTV service coverage using the SES Astra and Sirius satellites. Footprints and reception details can be found on the Hellas Sat web site: www.hellas-sat.net and the HD1 web site: www.hd-1.tv
Hellas-Sat 2 is a high power satellite which is able to offer the capacity needed for high-quality, high bandwidth HDTV channel broadcasting. Large 16:9 format flat panel displays with high resolutions will certainly benefit from the crisp crystal-clear pictures and CD-quality sound offered by the HDTV digital technology, up to double the line resolution compared to the existing transmission standards.
Please check the Euro1080 website at: www.euro1080.tv for more information regarding the recommended equipment and how to subscribe to HD1.
The HD1 reception parameters from the Hellas-Sat 2 (39Ί East) satellite:
F1 beam, 12606 MHz Horizontal, Symbol Rate 27500, FEC 3/4, Irdeto 2 encryption
Hellas Sat is pioneering the HDTV initiative and is already a full member of the European HDTV forum (www.hdtvforum.org) which brings together European satellite HDTV broadcasters, HDTV equipment manufacturers, and other parties interested in the European roll-out of High Definition Television.
