Hackers are really smart aren’t they? Some hackers have been hacking into Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1 using Bluetooth. The “obexfile.dll” driver is vulnerable to “a directory traversal vulnerability in the Bluetooth OBEX FTP Service” as confirmed by security boffin Alberto Moreno Tablado. Incidentally, the HTC smartphones like Touch Diamond, Touch Pro, Touch Cruise, Touch Find, S710 and S740 use the same hack-able Bluetooth drivers, making these phones vulnerable to hacking attacks. HTC has not confirmed if it will update this Bluetooth driver.
The first thumb rule to protect your phone from this is to avoid accepting untrusted Bluetooth connections, disable file sharing over Bluetooth and also clear the previously paired devices list. If you are careful while using Bluetooth, you can be safe from such attacks for sure.
