I Am Legend Gets Blu-ray Release Date

Warner Home Video has announced that they will bring the Will Smith hit 'I Am Legend' to Blu-ray on March 18th, day-and-date with the DVD release. No specs have been announced at this time, but an interesting extra was revealed. Along with the normal theatrical version is an alternative version with a controversial ending. No word if this title would utilize seamless branching to show both versions.

Τα νέα του HD "πολέμου"


Αρκετές και ενδιαφέρουσες ειδήσεις έχει βγάλει τις τελευταίες ημέρες η αγορά του High Definition. Η Warner ανακοίνωσε την κυκλοφορία της ταινίας I Am Legend σε Blu-ray και HD DVD, ενώ το BBC τόνισε πως θα συνεχίσει να υποστηρίζει και τις δύο πλευρές. Όσον αφορά στο blockbuster των 200 εκατομμυρίων δολαρίων, θα μεταφερθεί στις HD οικιακές εκδόσεις με την κυκλοφορία της έκδοσης του Blu-ray να έχει οριστεί για τις 18 Μαρτίου και αυτή του HD DVD για τις 8 Απριλίου. Και στα δύο πακέτα θα περιλαμβάνεται η ταινία σε δύο εκδόσεις (theatrical και unrated), χωρίς ωστόσο να έχουν δοθεί περισσότερες πληροφορίες για τα extras.
Πέραν της πρόσφατης ταινίας με πρωταγωνιστή τον Will Smith, το δίκτυο BBC ανακοίνωσε πως παρά τις εξελίξεις των τελευταίων εβδομάδων θα συνεχίσει να υποστηρίζει τόσο το Blu-ray, όσο και το HD DVD. Μάλιστα, υψηλόβαθμο στέλεχος της εταιρείας ανακοίνωσε πως θα περιμένει αρκετό καιρό ακόμα πριν προχωρήσει σε δέσμευση με τη μία ή την άλλη πλευρά.
Στην απόφαση αυτή φαίνεται πως βοήθησε και η πορεία του Platen Earth box set, που προσφέρθηκε πρόσφατα σε δύο εκδόσεις, με αυτή του HD DVD να ξεπερνάει κατά πολύ σε πωλήσεις αυτή του Blu-ray.

I Am Legend Gets Detailed

Warner Home Video has revealed specifications and extra features for the Blu-ray release of 'I Am Legend', which is set to be released March 18th, day-and-date with the DVD. The disc will contain two versions of the film - the theatrical cut and an alternate theatrical version with a controversial alternate ending. Video will be presented in 2.40:1 1080p VC-1 and accompanied by a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack .

Extra include the Blu-ray exclusive "Creating I Am Legend Minidocumentary Gallery" and "Cautionary Tale: The Science of I Am Legend", both in stunning high definition. Also included will be the four animated comics 'Death As A Gift', 'Isolation', 'Sacrificing the Few for the Many' and 'Shelter', all presented exclusively in high definition on the Blu-ray release.
