Personalized, multi-dimensional audio for your favourite headphones
IDA is a new dimension of audio, bringing user-tailored, multi-dimensional, spatial sound experiences to anyone, anywhere. Whether you’re an audio professional, audiophile or avid gamer, IDA is the new global standard for personalized, truly immersive headphone sound.
When you use headphones, your head and ears are not affecting the sounds you hear as they normally would in a live situation or while listening to loudspeakers. Consequently, sounds are localized inside the listener’s head.
But with Infinite Dimensions Audio, IDA, your personal audio profile or head-related transfer function (HRTF) – which is created by taking a simple 3-D scan of your head and ears – is used to restore the natural 3-D soundscene to any pair of headphones.
Once an individual’s anatomy is scanned in 3D, the personal audio profile for a thousand different sound directions is carefully simulated with a dense frequency resolution. This is performed for the whole audible range without any shortcuts.
The result is vastly improved audio that adds a whole new level of realism to movies, video games, and virtual reality experiences.
IDA creates a high-quality personal audio profile using an innovative simulation approach. Instead of highly uncomfortable, time consuming, and expensive measurements, all it takes now is a simple 3D scan of a listener’s head and ears to create a custom audio profile.
For years, the only way to determine your unique acoustic profile (HRTF), was to take physical measurements in an anechoic chamber. That meant placing small microphones inside your ears—not a very comfortable feeling—and remaining completely still inside the chamber for long periods of time.
IDA makes things fast and simple by 3D scans. The hard work is in the computing, and that’s taken care of by cloud computers—where the simulation environment is completely anechoic and the 3D model completely still. The scans are perfectly safe and the result is an extremely high quality personalized acoustic profile.
Each individual acoustic profile is packaged into an AES-standardized container called SOFA (Spatially Oriented Format for Acoustics). It is revolutionary yet simple to use, just upload it to your DAW plugin, and you have your own binaural rendering built for your own ears.
