Frank Stephenson, the American designer of the beautiful 8C Competizione and the upcoming Mito hatchback, is leaving Alfa Romeo.
Stephenson, 49, was moved from his job as design chief for the whole Fiat Group to the position of design director at Alfa Romeo after former Pininfarina chief Lorenzo Ramaciotti was recruited last summer.
Besides the 8c Competizione and Mito, Stephenson also worked on models including the new Fiat 500, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, latest Maserati Quattroporte and MC12. Before joining Fiat, he was at BMW, where he developed the Mini and original BMW X5.
Stephenson will be replaced at Alfa by Christopher Reitz, a 40-year old Austrian. He has not announced yet whether he has another job lined up."
