From Japan's CEATEC technology show, JVC has unveiled a demo model of its latest HDTV technology, sporting a sprightly 180Hz refresh rate. The Victor Company claims the 32-incher is the first LCD panel to feature the 180Hz rate, using custom algorithms that interpolate a typical HDTV feed of 60Hz and then insert two frames of its own.
This refresh rate is apparently promised to cut out much of the blur in fast movement - especially prevalent in sports - even compared to the current premium 120Hz refresh rate, as 'suggested' in the pic. Still in the prototype stage, the set runs with a 1024x768 pixel count as opposed to the more common 720p 1280x720 currently offered in the 32in market.
The set is likely to be manufactured but is still very much in the development stage so you'll have to hold onto your 180Hz horses for a while yet.
