LG says it has developed a new plasma production technique, which it dubs ‘8-up’, to increase PDP production at its panel making facility in Gumi, Korea. The brand’s new A3 plasma line can now produce eight panels instead of six from one glass substrate. This increases its monthly production capacity from 360,000 to 440,000 panels. The company has also ramped up production of 50-inch Full HD models. LG says it is part of an ongoing production streamlining process. Earlier this year, LG announced the closure of its oldest plasma production facility.
