The Lipsinki L-302 is the company’s attempt to create a new digital amplification technology that’s similar to Sony’s Direct Stream Digital (DSD) platform. Sony’s DSD technology, used in SACD's, utilizes pulse-density modulation encoding; which samples a signal at 2.8Mhz, but at only 1-bit. Meaning the signal is converted into a sequence of 1-bit values, but at a sampling rate 64x that of a normal CD.
The L-302 uses a high power pulse driver to convert an analog signal to digital, which is then easily amplified. After amplification, the signal is passed through a low pass filter to convert the signal back to analog. Lipsinki claims their technology can achieve "the same quality as described by Sony and its DSD approach." The amplifier can be used in stereo with 300 watts per channel, or bridged for 600 watts of output on a single channel. The L-302 Stereo Power Amplifier is currently available for $3,995.00.
