Mitsubishi plans OLED introduction

Mitsubishi wants to enter the OLED (organic light emitting diode) display race. The Japanese giant will show OLED samples made at its Hiroshima plant later this year and is promising to begin volume production in 2009 if there’s sufficient demand. The company says it would need to invest 15 billion Yen to create a production line capable of producing 20,000 panels annually. Interest in OLED has risen significantly since Sony said it would introduce panels into the Japanese consumer market before the end of this year.
