Genesis Advanced Technologies, longtime manufacturer of audiophile loudspeaker systems, has announced their latest generation in the evolution of Genesis 2-series ($63,000 in gloss black).

The Genesis 2-series loudspeaker, G2 for short, is the penultimate Genesis model with four towers and external crossover system and Class D amplification for the woofers. The past five years of development have come to fruition with improved Servo-Bass Cable and 8-inch woofers with higher displacement and lower distortion. Genesis also moved to an acrylic/mdf composite sandwich for improved cabinet resonance control. A completely redesigned Servo-Controlled Bass Amplifier better controls the system's lowermost sound frequency reproduction, which is driven by new Class D modules with zero propagation delay and higher current capability. Driver compliment per channel includes fifteen 1-inch circular ribbons, a single 48-inch ribbon midrange, and eight 8-inch woofers. Frequency response is from 16Hz to 36kHz and sensitivity is 90dB/W/m.

The new Genesis 2 four-tower system with external 2 x 500-watt 1.8kVA servo amplification sports 16Hz to 36kHz +/-3dB response at 90dB sensitivity. On the tweeter/mid dipole line-source wings, it uses 12 circular ribbons in the front, 3 on the rear and one 48" ribbon per channel; on the separate woofer towers, eight 8" ribbed aluminum cone woofers. A full complement of adjustments include a +/-1dB rear tweeter control; a +/-0.75dB upper midrange contour; and gain, lo/hi-pass and phase for the active bass sytem. Built to order, the Genesis 2 system weighs in at 720 lbs and is offered in high-gloss acrylic black for $63,000.

Genesis Advanced Technologies, manufacturer of audiophile reference loudspeaker systems, announces the availability of the Reference Series amplifiers. “As loudspeaker manufacturers, we are at the very end of the chain, and at the mercy of all the electronic bits that come before. This is something that has been mentioned by numerous reviewers,” said Mr. Gary Leonard Koh, President of Genesis, “To address this, we proved with the Limited Edition M60 and I60 tube amplifiers that all Genesis loudspeakers needed was a well-designed and well-executed amplifier. We built those amplifiers so well that most were sold to non-Genesis owners, and they are driving speakers that are reputed to be very difficult loads. One pair of our $4,000 monoblocks is the foundation of a $120,000 stereo system!!”

“As a follow-up to the tube amps, the Genesis Reference Amplifiers had to be better in every respect,” continued Mr Koh. “In order to test the amplifier in front of as many different loudspeakers and critical ears as possible, I demo’ed them in pre-production form to quite a number of dealers, and the acceptance has been universal,” enthused Mr Brian Tucker, Director of National Sales for Genesis. “I would not say that they have a tube sound per se, but they have the linearity of timbre and texture of good tube amplifiers. They are detailed without being etched, and have a wonderful musical aliveness that everybody acknowledged. They also drove all loudspeakers from high-efficiency horn loaded ones to inefficient behemoths perfectly.”

“The Genesis Reference Amplifier is everything for everyone. It has the musicality and tonal colors of a tube amplifier, but the control and dynamics of solid-state,” said Mr Koh. “A lot of it boiled down to the break-through design in the power supply. I have to give a lot of the credit to the brilliant British power engineer, Nigel Pearson, for working with me on the power supply. It took over a year, but we have designed a high-current power supply that delivers into dynamic, non-linear musical loads. We also developed a regulated voltage source that has a noise floor of –90dB from 10Hz to over 1MHz.”


"We try to make ownership of the Genesis Reference Amplifier as painless as possible," said Mr Koh. "You can start at the basic level, and then upgrade in steps. For example, the extended power supply -- the Maximum Dynamic Headroom Reservoir -- can be easily user-installed. Adding the MDHR results in an amplifier that delivers even more of a punch. Another benefit is a smoothness and lushness that you will miss when it is removed, adding the MDHR is like adding cream to your coffee when you are used to non-fat soy. However, if you have not yet experienced it, you won't be hankering for it in the basic edition of the amplifier."

The Genesis Reference Amplifier is custom-configured and built to order. A basic version stereo power amplifier with 180W per channel will retail for $3,600 and Statement-level monoblock power amplifiers are $19,000 for a 360W pair.
