Oppo's stunning BDP-93 Blu-ray universal disc player has set a new benchmark for video performance. It's a network player that lets you instantly watch streaming Netflix or Blockbuster On Demand movies via the Internet and your Netflix or Blockbuster membership. Hot on the heels of NuForce's 'hotrod edition' of Oppo's best selling BDP-83 Blu-ray player last year, NuForce brings the BDP-93's audio performance up to the equal of its video level with the upgraded Oppo BDP-93 NuForce Edition player. The NuForce Edition maintains all of the great features of the Oppo version while significantly enhancing the audio output. This is the version of the BDP-93 to buy if you're using the player's analog outputs with a high-quality home theater amplifier or receiver.
Extracting High Quality Audio from Blu-ray
Extracting high-quality audio from Blu-ray players can be problematic. The HDMI signal interleaves video and audio data which, upon decoding, produces an inherent jitter as high as 7 nanoseconds (For comparison, a good CD player's jitter is in the picosecond range). In practical terms, it is difficult to properly decode HDMI audio without employing extensive reclocking circuits, thus pushing up the cost of a good HDMI audio pre-processor.
The simplest way to improve analog audio performance is at the source. As replacements for standard OPPO analog boards, the NuForce analog boards for the Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray player have been redesigned from the ground up for improved performance parameters.
Re-Engineered Power Supply and Analog Output Stage
All eight channels of the BDP-93 have been re-engineered by NuForce for a breathtaking, full-HD multi-channel experience. A highly regulated and filtered onboard linear power supply replaces the
stock Oppo power supply. The output stage has been carefully designed to sidestep signal-degrading muting circuitry. Advanced analog filters eliminate phase shifting within the audible bands, For the perfect finishing touch, high performance op-amps deliver a warm, vibrant, seductive sound.
