Pioneer’s newly re-branded Vision range of plasma TVs are being heralded by the company as ‘the finest TVs in the world.’
With black levels increased by as much as 80 per cent, the models represent a considerable improvement over previous models in both brightness and contrast..“In a brightly lit room the images look as bright as those from LCD,” said a spokesman.
The G8 screens debut in the UK this June and comprise 42-, 50-, and 60-inch models. First out are a range of XGA models, offering 1024 x 768 (42-inch) and 1365 x 768 (50-inch) resolution. Contrast is rated at 16,000:1. The brand’s long-awaited Full HD models, boasting 20,000:1 contrast, will follow in September. The new screens have a so-called ‘Optimum Mode’; an ‘Intelligent brightness control’, which controls brightness so that the viewer gets the best picture, regardless of the lighting conditions.
