Με know-how από την ESS (aka δεν είναι τυχαίο ότι η εταιρεία έχει έδρα τον Καναδά, ούτε, προφανώς, η χρήση του Sabre DAC).

Καλά, δεν είναι και Ayre, αλλά πλαστικούρα δεν το λες. Το φινίρισμα ξεγελάει.

Each Invicta starts life as a solid piece of aluminum, and through several complex machining steps the aluminum is removed to create a solid, light and durable enclosure.

Δεν πρέπει να έχει ανακοινωθεί ακόμα. Καλά-καλά δεν έχουν στήσει το site. Βλέπω option για direct αγορά αλλά δεν "παίζει" το link.

Για αυτο θέλουν 500$ προκαταβολή και σε 8-10 βδομάδες θα παραλάβεις την πηγή που θα ανοίξει νέους ορίζοντες στην ακρόαση.Και 3450 $ ακόμα.:126:

Πολλά είναι 2800 βρε θείο Μάνο; Μην κάτσω να υπολογίσω πόσα έχω σκάσει στα διάφορα βουβάλια που έχουν περάσει από το σπίτι μου...
Άσε που άμα το βγάλεις και πολύ φθηνό έχεις χάσει απο τα αποδυτήρια.

Θα είχε ενδιαφέρον η κοντρίτσα με το Weiss 202.

"Every aspect of the Invicta is programmable to some degree. The i/o ports meet or exceed the physical layer specifications so that for example two of the BNCs are programmable as input or output and currently are configured as selectable S/PDIF inputs. If it turns out customers want word sync, clock and data—which we initially considered—then a simple software upgrade will create that. Furthermore the HDMI connector at the hardware level can do I²S over HDMI, HD OSD output, ultimately even HDMI audio. Currently it does none of these because our software team has not yet completed the necessary firmware/software to our satisfaction."

Θα είχε ενδιαφέρον η κοντρίτσα με το Weiss 202.

Τα συμπεράσματα από τα 6 φεγγάρια: "Concluding introductions, the Invicta's asking price of $3.995 positions it one layer up from the Burson and Wyred4Sound units reviewed in these pages, on par with my Weiss DAC2 and recently written up Antelope Zodiac Gold + Voltikus and one layer down from the newer Weiss DAC202 where each doubling of price no longer tracks performance increases in linear fashion. Full featured in socketry including that unexpected but brilliant SD card slot whose use eliminates a computer for playback altogether, only a remote wand is missing to add creature comfort for the promoted amp-direct mode. But arguably the Invicta's most unique feature is having been designed by the team behind the ESS Sabre chip. This presumably makes it a no-prisoners proof of concept which mines that chip's fullest potential. Fans—units by Eastern Electric, Calyx, Oppo, Wyred4Sound and Weiss run on Sabre for just a few—might earmark the Invicta as possible it machine in this price class."

Από την άλλη αυτός από τα atcforums λέει ότι το invicta τα σκίζει όλα: "The Weiss DAC202U absolutely floored the Zodiac and again the INVICTA has jumped leaps and bounds ahead of the Weiss."

Αχ, choices, choices...

Πάντως πέρα από το τι ακούει και γράφει ο καθένας, το review των έξι φεγγαριών έχει μία ενδιαφέρουσα ανάλυση (που προέρχεται μάλλον από τον σχεδιαστή του invicta) για το γνωστό θέμα digital vs analogue volume control στην εποχή των 24-μπιτων, 32-μπιτων κλπ. dacs.

Και τέλος ένα τελείως off-topic τιζερ πάλι από τα atcforums. Αυτός ο τύπος, που δε λές ότι έχει και τη χειρότερη προσέγγιση στο θέμα χαι-φαι, έπαθε πλάκα δοκιμάζοντας ...καλώδια nordost! (διαβάστε ποστ #11).
