AU Optronics (AUO) will kick off production of 42-inch LCD TV panels at its sixth generation (6G) TFT LCD plant in May 2006, instead of the second half of the year, as it originally scheduled, market sources indicated.
In addition, the sources indicated that Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) has already commenced production of 42- and 47-inch TV panels at its 5G plant in the first quarter of this year. The panel maker is also expected to launch 56-inch TV panels in the third quarter, according to the sources....AUO has moved up the schedule for 42-inch panel production to better compete with Korean rivals Samsung Electronics and LG.Philips (LPL), the sources indicated
