What makes Wisdom Audio special?
Our team has decades of experience in transducer design and can approach application and performance requirements with technological innovation. Most speaker companies buy their transducers from a handful of suppliers in the world. The Sage Series has become a statement among architectural speakers — offering exceptional quality that compares and, in some cases, surpasses that of freestanding speakers. Most architectural speakers manufactured today just are not designed for high performance.
What makes Wisdom speakers designed for high performance?
Well, for starters, Wisdom Audio speakers are active speakers, not passive; our systems are bi-amplified and use an electronic crossover. We design our own planar magnetic transducers. And, we offer Audyssey MultEQ Pro calibration within our SC-1 System Controller every Sage Series installation.
Why is room correction so important to Wisdom Audio?
Our speakers are often housed in a fixed location that may not always provide optimal room acoustics. To give our speakers the best chance of delivering their full potential, we felt it was important to use room correction. Audyssey technology is just more sophisticated than basic parametric EQ and provides a superior sounding solution. The MultEQ Pro solution is scalable: It allows us to train, execute, install, calibrate and give all our customers worldwide consistent results and the best sound possible.
What did customers in Australia and China think of Wisdom?
The complete audio solution that Wisdom provides, our products and technology were very well received. The people who attended our trainings and press meetings were quite excited about the innovative designs of our products. We are delivering very high performance results in an architectural package and people were impressed that we address the category in such detail.
Everyone hears, “Think globally, act locally” what did you localize for China or Australia?
We really didn’t have to change our message abroad. People generally don’t listen differently around the world, so we didn’t have to customize the performance or subjective results of our products.
The one thing we did stress was our ability to mount in-wall speakers in newly constructed concrete wall buildings. This is especially important for China and Europe where concrete wall construction is prevalent.
What has your customers’ response to Audyssey been?
Great. We are very pleased with the positive reaction to Audyssey from our customers, sales team, distribution channels, and the dealers who install the systems and perform the calibration. Even on our trip to Australia, we found that people were familiar with Audyssey and the benefits of your products.
What was your biggest surprise during your trip?
The showroom for our products in Beijing was located in a sophisticated 7-story design center with many of the finest names in furniture and decorative arts. Our best model speakers, housed in a concrete cinderblock wall were on display. We were quite impressed with the sophistication of the showroom and the entire design center—it was world class.
In Australia, we met with several custom installers and were quite impressed with their knowledge, experience and insight.
What direction do you foresee the industry heading?
One of the most important and successful consumer electronic products has been the wall-mounted flat screen television. When it appeared on the market, it was adopted very quickly and has changed the way people entertain at home. The flat screen television is responsible for the explosion of home theater systems in homes. However, we saw as people adopted the on-wall HD display device they also wanted superior audio products including in/on-wall speakers to match their high quality TVs. People want access to technology but without the clutter of having speakers on the floor.
We believe the industry will continue to evolve in a way that supports the expanding range of mediums and experiences. This expansion benefits the custom installation area of our industry.
What is next for Wisdom Audio?
Despite lower new home construction figures, we think that consumers will favor a custom integrated and thoughtfully designed solution for their home entertainment needs. We plan to continue to participate in that as well, evolve and expand our product line, and make the finest architectural speaker solutions.
