Η Νταϊάνα θα αποφασίσει να αφήσει τον κόσμο της, πεπεισμένη ότι μπορεί να σταματήσει την απειλή. It’s official: Michelle MacLaren to direct Wonder Woman!

It was just over a week ago that word broke that Warner Bros. Pictures was keen on signing “Breaking Bad” and “The Walking Dead” director Michelle MacLaren to helm their long-awaited DC Comics adaptation Wonder Woman. Today, The Hollywood Reporter has announced that the deal is done! MacLaren will both develop and direct the solo film with Charles Roven and Zack and Deborah Snyder producing.

Gal Gadot is already set to headline Wonder Woman with the character planned to make her first cinematic appearance in 2016′s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. She may even make additional appearances across DC’s new cinematic universe before her solo film sees release on June 23, 2017. It’s pretty much a guarantee, too, that Wonder Woman is also going to play an important role in Justice League: Part One, hitting theaters November 10, 2017.

Recent rumors have suggested that, as a franchise, Wonder Woman is being targeted for development as a trilogy with the first film planned to take place in the 1920s, revealing Themyscira’s first encounter with the outside world and Wonder Woman’s own experiences with a USA that still had a lot to learn about equal rights. Then, it is alleged, a sequel would take place in the 1940s and will be set against the backdrop of World War II. A third film, then, would finally bring Wonder Woman’s solo adventures to a contemporary setting. Take all of that with a grain of salt, however.

MacLaren’s directing credits also include episodes of “Game of Thrones,” “The Leftovers” and the upcoming “Breaking Bad” spinoff “Better Call Saul.” She’s also well-known for serving as co-executive producer on the final two seasons of FOX’s “The X-Files.”

Monster’s Patty Jenkins set as Wonder Woman director

Warner Bros. Pictures has wasted no time in finding a new Wonder Woman director. Just two days after word broke that formerly attached “Breaking Bad” and “The Walking Dead” director Michelle MacLaren had exited the project over “creative differences,” The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Monster‘s Patty Jenkins will be taking the director’s chair on the DC Comics feature. Jenkins’ name is already well-known to superhero film aficionados, as she was, at one point, attached to Marvel Studios’ Thor: The Dark World. She left that project, also due to “creative differences,” and was replaced by Alan Taylor.

Jenkins’ other credits include episodes of “Entourage,” “Arrested Development” and “The Killing.”

Chris Pine eyes Steve Trevor role in Wonder Woman!

Well known for playing Captain James T. Kirk in the rebooted Star Trek franchise, Chris Pine appears to now be heading for the DC Universe. Variety today reports that Pine is in negotiations to play Steve Trevor, the romantic interest of the titular Amazon, in Warner Bros. Pictures’ Wonder Woman.

Trevor debuted in the comics right alongside Wonder Woman in 1942’s “All Star Comics” #8. Although the character has been rebooted several times over the years, the original version of Trevor was a US soldier whose plane crash lands on Paradise Island, exposing the secret civilization to the world.

The outlet also clarifies an earlier rumor that claimed Scott Eastwood would be playing the Trevor role. Although he reportedly considered reading for the role, the Gran Torino star ultimately took a completely different role for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad.

Chris Pine locked to play Wonder Woman’s Steve Trevor

Despite some recent rumors that suggested he might instead be headlining Warner Bros. Pictures’ Green Lantern Corps, Star Trek‘s Chris Pine is, according to The Wrap, now fully signed on to star as Steve Trevor in director Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman.

The romantic interest of the titular Amazon (Gal Gadot), Trevor debuted in the comics right alongside Wonder Woman in 1942’s “All Star Comics” #8. Although the character has been rebooted several times over the years, the original version of Trevor was a US soldier whose plane crash lands on Paradise Island, exposing the secret civilization to the world.

Nicole Kidman eyes Wonder Woman role

Director Patty Jenkins’ upcoming Wonder Woman movie may have just gained an Academy Award winner. According to The Wrap, none other than Nicole Kidman is in talks to join Gal Gadot and Chris Pine for the DC Comics adaptation. Although the specific part Nicole Kidman is up for has not yet been revealed, the outlet claims that she’d play “a high-ranking Amazonian warrior” and goes on to speculate that the role might be that of Amazon Queen Hippolyta. It’s also very easy to imagine Nicole Kidman playing the villainous sorceress Circe as well, although the character has only been rumored to appear in the 2017 release.

Nicole Kidman, who earned an Oscar for her performance in The Hours, recently took a villainous turn in Paul King’s acclaimed children’s book adaptation Paddington. Coming up, Kidman can be seen starring opposite Chiwetel Ejiofor and Julia Roberts in Billy Ray’s Secret in Their Eyes. Look for it to hit theaters later this month. Then, next year, Nicole Kidman teams with Robert Pattinson and James Franco, headlining Werner Herzog’s Gertrude Bell biopic, Queen of the Desert.

First look at the Amazons in new Wonder Woman photo!

This Friday, Gal Gadot will make her debut as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but next summer she’ll star in her own movie, a long time coming for the oldest female superhero in comics. Warner Bros. Pictures (via EW) has released a new Wonder Woman photo showing off the Amazons from the upcoming film, including first looks at Diana’s mother, Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen), and her two aunts General Antiope (Robin Wright) and Antiope’s lieutenant, Menalippe (Lisa Loven Kongsli).

“Themyscira is influenced by the Greek but it’s clearly more then that,” producer Charles Roven tells the outlet. “It’s a place that has the ‘you’ve never been to’ kind of feel. But once you’re there you’re not so sure you really want to leave so fast.”

“To me, they shouldn’t be dressed in armor like men,” director Patty Jenkins says of their armor. “It should be different. It should be authentic and real—and appealing to women.”
