Yamaha has pulled out of the home video projector market. The AV specialist, which has released a number of highly regarded DLP and LCD models over the last couple of years, says it can no longer compete in the home cinema PJ field. “Prices are just too competitive for us,” admitted a spokesman. The company says that once stock of its current models has cleared retail, no more vision-orientated products of any kind will be released.

Yamaha joins Hitachi, which has also now withdrawn from the consumer projection market. Hitachi too has cited rapid price erosion as a reason to withdraw.
