Producer Carlton Cuse will make "as many episodes as possible" of hit ABC show

Everyone who has seen the first two episodes of the fourth season of Lost is foaming at the mouth for more, more, more. The hit ABC show was primed to be the midseason ratings king for scripted shows, coming off a sizzling, game-changing season-three finale that brought the show back into the limelight.



The Lost crew...chillin'.
Then a little thing called the strike happened. Already planned for a shortened 16-episode season, the Lost crew was able to complete only eight episodes of season four before being forced to stop working. Even with the promise from the producers of a cliffhanging ending to the eighth episode of season four, Lost fans wept silently, fearing only eight Thursday nights of mind-bending drama.

When news broke this weekend about the imminent resolution of the strike, every Lost fan perked up and asked, "Does this mean more Lost?" The answer seems to be a resounding "yes."

The Lost producers have already sounded the alarm and are going to attempt to whip up five more episodes--for a total of 13--this season.

"We're going to try to make as many as we can and do a good job of finishing out this season," Cuse told Variety. "We'll have to compress some of the storytelling we planned for this season, and that may not be a bad thing. Damon and I feel like we know how we can finish it off and still make it a really, really great story."

Cuse also said that storylines originally planned for this season that they may not get to would be picked up on later in the fifth or sixth seasons.

Thirteen episodes may be less than what Lost fans were hoping for this year, but given the circumstances, the show seems to be in good shape. Now, someone please explain what a polar bear skeleton was doing in Tunisia!

[UPDATE] New details on the back-half of season four of Lost have surfaced in an interview of Cuse by TVGuide.com's Michael Ausiello. Cuse says that the five post-strike episodes--should they be completed--won't air immediately after the initial run of eight episodes, but will likely air after a four-week break.

As for the three episodes ordered for this season that could be lost to the strike, Cuse says he will make sure they are "made up" in some capacity, likely added to either season five or six.

However, it's clear that there is still plenty of work to be done to get the rest of the season up to the quality that fans and Cuse expect from Lost.

In Ms. Gardner's house Miles glances at several photos on the walls, but one photo stands out as being different than all of the rest of them, almost looking like it could have been taken outside, like outside in Africa! The resemblance, between Eko as a boy and the boy in the picture in the house is certainly very close and could be the same person. But this raises many new questions as to why a picture of a boy who grew up in Nigeria and never stepped foot in America, as far as we know, could end up in this ladies home. One thing is certain, the ghost boy upstairs couldn't be Eko. But could he be related to Eko somehow? Only time will tell.

The official description says something like Desmond experiences some side effects. Well that is most definitely true, but not only for Desmond. We’re also going to learn a little bit about Frank Lapetus that will surprise us, no he isn’t the man on the boat but he does have a soft spot for happy couples and may know a thing or two about how to ‘reach out and touch’ someone.

‘Professor’ Faraday will be a feature player in Desmond’s flashes, and look for a twist on the “Flashes Before Your Eyes” formula. Not something that hasn’t been done, but something that will be done again to a new extreme.

Are the freighties good or bad? Well the four we have met so far may be a little ambiguous, but the ones onboard the ship are most certainly not the warm and welcoming sort. Not all of them anyways.
