Το πικάπ είναι μάλλον από τις πιο "δύσκολες" HiFi συσκευές στη μεταφορά. Αν δεν πακεταριστεί σωστά, και με δεδομένο τον τρόπο που πετάνε τα πακέτα πέρα-δώθε οι διάφορες εταιρείες courier, είναι σχεδόν σίγουρο πως θα φτάσει στον προορισμό του σε πολύ διαφορετική κατάσταση από αυτή που είχε διαφημίσει ο πωλητής...
Στο πλαίσιο της, ατελείωτης είναι η αλήθεια, αναζήτησής μου για πικάπ, έφτιαξα πρόσφατα μία σύνθεση διαφόρων οδηγιών που βρήκα στο internet και συμβουλών του Δημογέροντα Κώστα Κόγια σχετικά με το πακετάρισμα ενός πικάπ για ασφαλή, στο μέτρο του δυνατού, αποστολή.
Παραθέτω τις οδηγίες. Ίσως φανούν χρήσιμες σε κάποιον.
1. First check your TT's instruction manual for the recommended packing procedure to get some hints/ideas/specific information you might need to add to the steps below.
2. Remove the glass platter, pack it in bubble wrap, and set it aside.
3. Remove and the pack the headshell (end of the tone arm where the cartridge is mounted) in a separate container. If the cartridge has a stylus guard, be sure to use it. If not, pack in a way that the packing material won't contact the stylus tip as it's quite fragile.
4. Remove the counter-weight of the tonearm. pack it in bubble wrap.
5. Secure the tone arm to the tonearm rest with a twist or bread tie.
6. Secure the sub-platter in place using tape.
7. Tighten down the shipping screw(s) - check TT instructions to locate them.
8. If the turntable feet are removable, remove them, wrap them and set aside.
9. Wrap up the cords, hold together with a rubber band or tie, and cover with a small plastic bag.
10. Keep the dust cover on, but open it. Slide a large plastic bag over the entire dust cover back to the hinges. Do the same over the base (the tonearm will be covered as well). Close the dust cover. Fold up the open areas at the back and tape closed. Don't put any tape directly on the surface of the dust cover or deck.
11. Now wrap packing tape tightly front to back, side to side, and diagonally around the whole table. This will hold the dust cover in place and protect the tonearm.
12. Place enough large-bubble wrap in the bottom of the box. Place the wraped platter in. Then wrap or cradle the turntable in plenty of large-bubble wrap and place it over the platter. Fit in the accessories (counterweight,headshell, tt feet, manuals etc.) where there is space (except over the tonearm!). Add packing material to any open area left. Seal the box.
13.(optional) Ideally you would find a bigger box maybe 2" all around, and line it with peanuts or any cushioning material, and place the first box inside, finish filling with cushioning and seal. Don't forget to put cushioning on top as well.
14. Place "Fragile" and "This Side up" clearly on all sides.
Είναι οδηγίες για πικάπ με αφαιρούμενο platter, αλλά πάνω-κάτω you get the idea. Eπίσης πολλοί προτείνουν το καπάκι να αφαιρείται και να μπαίνει σε ξεχωριστό κουτί μαζί με το platter και μετά να μπει το κουτί αυτό, μαζί με το κουτί του πικάπ, σε κάποιο μεγαλύτερο ή να αποσταλεί χωριστά. Οι περισσότεροι πωλητές θα το θεωρήσουν μπελά να πρέπει να βρουν 3 (4 σε περίπτωση double-box, βλ. No.12) κουτιά πάντως και σε περίπτωση αποστολής χωριστά το κόστος των μεταφορικών ανεβαίνει σημαντικά. Θεωρώ πως αν ακολουθήσετε πιστά τις παραπάνω οδηγίες δε θα έχετε πρόβλημα - εξαιρούνται εκρήξεις, πυρκαγιές κλπ.
