MEDITERRANEAN TO LOSE 100 MILLION TOURISTS BY 2050

A new report on the effects of global warming from the European Commission is expected to predict major water shortages and a massive fall in tourist numbers in southern Europe by the middle of the century.
The Financial Times reports that the Commission's environment directorate compiled the report using data from Brussels' satellite monitoring service and a review of the most recent findings. The report predicts that northern Europe will see a much warmer climate; with the North Sea coast becoming ‘the new Riviera’.
However, this means that wealthy northern Europeans are more likely to holiday in their own country rather than go to countries like Spain, Greece and Italy. An estimated 100 million people head to southern Europe for their holidays every year (one sixth of the world’s tourists). Even more worrying, the report suggests that many will suffer the effects of a much hotter climate in the south with forecasts of as many as 87,000 extra deaths annually by 2071 (assuming a three degree centigrade temperature rise).
Mε λιγα λογια,αν κατι δεν αλλαξει δραστικα στο κλιμα,τα επομενα χρονια η μονη "βαρια βιομηχανια" της χωρας κινδυνευει να χασει το βασικο της πλεονεκτημα.Το θεμα ειναι γνωστο,πολλοι υποστηριζουν οτι το σεναριο παραειναι απαισιοδοξο αλλα ας μην επαναπαυομαστε.
Για παραδειγμα,ηδη στα Βορεια παραλια της Κρητης παρατηρειται το φαινομενο της "αποαμμωσης"(ελπιζω να το γραφω σωστα),δηλαδη το "χασιμο" καθε χρονο εκτασης αμμωδους παραλιας λογω της ανοδου της σταθμης της θαλασσας.Εχει ανατεθει ερευνα σε Ελληνικο Πανεπιστημιο για την αντιμετωπιση του φαινομενου.
Καλως η κακως η χωρα ζει σε μεγαλο βαθμο με εσοδα απο τον Τουρισμο(..την γεωργια ξεχαστε την).
Ελπιζω λοιπον καποιοι να σχεδιαζουν κατι για το μελλον για να μη βρεθουμε προ πολυ δυσαρεστων καταστασεων.
