6moons.com"Everyone 'knows' two things when it comes to loudspeakers - that the enclosure must trap and absorb the rear wave of each driver and that the cabinet should be made of something inert to not vibrate. The problem is that these two things are mutually exclusive. If the enclosure is inert and dead, it cannot absorb energy which is its primary function. Stuffing foam inside is a lesson in self denial. Cerious Technologies chose a different path. We chose to design an enclosure that actually dissipates energy.
"Cerious Technologies introduces the React series of loudspeakers. The React 1 [$9,750/pr with stands] are constructed of 66 hollow carbon fiber rods for an incredibly light and rigid enclosure. The true breakthrough lies in the reactive ceramics that fill each rod. When the rods experience vibration, the ceramics within each tube counteract this energy, thus eliminating it.
"The center of each vented enclosure employs a spine of pure stainless steel. Within this steel tube is housed a Mass Damper System capable of neutralizing vast amounts of low frequency energy.
For drivers, the React 1 employs a proprietary 7-inch composite ceramic cone woofer mated to a 1-inch Illuminator tweeter. The 1st-order crossover at 3.7kHz contains only three elements, speaker sensitivity is 89dB, impedance a linear 6 to 8.5 ohms between 50Hz and 22kHz (F3 is 43Hz when mounted on the integral included 26" stands). Each React 1 measures 17” tall, 10½” wide, and 12¾” deep. The weight is 37 pounds each with the Mass Damper System installed. The integral stands are 26” in height and consist of a central 3” diameter carbon fiber tube to be filled with sand or steel ball bearings to add weight.
Choices of wood dowel finishes include Zebrawood (pictured), Bubinga and Cocobolo while the main speaker enclosure is black."
