LG:

LG EM9600

55''
OLED
7,5 kg!!
4mm!!
:111:

And the rest...

The rest of the range – you know, the TVs you might actually be able to afford to buy – seem to pale in comparison to all that world's ultra largest excitement.
The LG LM660T, LM669T and LM670T all fall into LG's Cinema Screen range, which means they'll rock the 1mm bezel and come with Cinema 3D (4 pairs of 3D glasses and 2 pairs of Dual Play glasses will be included). The LM660T comes in a 32-inch edition, while all three will be available in 42-inch, 47-inch and 55-inch flavours.
The LG LM760T is equally catchily-named, and will come in 42-, 47- and 55-inch editions, what with its LED display, Cinema 3D glasses, stupidly thin bezel and magic remote.
Not had enough product names thrown at you yet? Good news, there's more LED goodness in the form of the LM860V with 3D capability, Wi-Fi, magic remote and a dual-core processor to power Smart TV premium.

Sony introduces Crystal LED technology:

Sony has announced a new prototype display technology called Crystal LED that it hopes will prove to be the next step in image quality for consumers.

Taking on the likes of Samsung and LG, both of which have unveiled 55-inch OELD TVs at CES, Sony's 55-inch prototype uses millions of tiny LEDs to act as pixels and offers a Full HD self emitting display.

The light source is mounted directly onto the front of the television in a red-green-blue formation. This method apparently 'dramatically improves the light use efficiency and offers higher contrast ratios, wider colour gamut and high refresh rates and response time when compared with current LCD and plasma displays.
Bright as a button

The full HD screen uses over six million LEDs, packed into a tightly designed space, and can produce 400 nits of brightness, which is comparable with OLED displays of the moment.

Intriguingly, Sony added this new technology was "parallel to its continued development and commercialization of OLED displays, and Sony will work conscientiously to bring the "Crystal LED Display" to market."

We've yet to find out the juicy information such as when we'll see the technology in use or whether it will cost the earth, but Sony better get a wriggle on before Samsung and LG's OLED TVs start to gain traction in the market.

Panasonic debuts its first passive 3D LCD

In the past, Panasonic has chosen to fill in its under-42-inch lineup with LCDs but this year it's basically saying "what the hell" and producing LEDs up to 55-inches. The ET5 series sees the company continue the good work of previous years with LED-backlit IPS panels, said to enjoy a wider off-axis than some other LCD designs.

The other big surprise is passive 3D, which is essentially an LG technology; Panasonic was one of the first companies to embrace and champion active technology. One of the biggest failings with active TVs is the cost of ownership: active glasses cost a lot! Panasonic's passive TV reduces the sting in the tail here by including four pairs of glasses in the box.

The ET5 is a smart TV and includes onboard wi-fi, a browser, and Panasonic's new "cloud-based" Viera Connect system. Love tweeting from your TV? Anyone? At all? Well, the TV now has that onboard too.

The TV sits in the middle of the new LED range, but it still has a number of good features including four HDMI ports, a 360Hz refresh rate (we assume from some combination of 120Hz and a scanning backlight) and two USB ports.

Panasonic TC-LET5 series features:

LCD LED TV
Passive 3D
Four glasses included
360Hz refresh rate
Cloud-based Viera Connect Internet suite
Web browser
Built-in Wi-Fi

Panasonic TC-LET5 series models:

TC-L42ET5, 42-inch, price and availability TBD
TC-L47ET5, 47-inch, price and availability TBD
TC-L55ET5, 65-inch, price and availability TBD

Samsung:

55-inch OLED TV

Samsung says it, too, will ship a 55-inch OLED TV to the U.S. market this year. Samsung confirmed it would aim for sometime in the second half of 2012, while LG narrowed its release date down to the third quarter.

Neither company divulged pricing, but I expect both 55-inch OLED TVs to retail for at least $7,999.

Even basic details on Samsung's TV, such as a model number, are scarce at this point. Samsung told CNET that the "Super OLED" TV has a 0.3-inch depth, which is certainly slim enough (and about a third as thin as the skinniest LED TVs) but still nearly doubles that of the LG's 0.157-inch (4mm) depth. I asked about bezel width (LG says "1mm bezel"), whether Samsung would employ the same 4-pixel arrangement as the LG, or whether it would also require a separate external box to house the connections, but the company didn't answer by press time.

I do know that OLED has the potential to outperform any current flat-panel display technology. The only other OLED TV to see U.S. store shelves was Sony's XEL-1, an 11-inch pipsqueak that nonetheless managed to produce "absolute" black levels when I reviewed it in 2008. At the time I said "The only display we've seen that comes close is Pioneer's Extreme Contrast Concept plasma," which delivered the deepest black levels I've seen to this day.

The Sony suffered from color accuracy issues but Samsung describes its 55-incher as a "masterpiece of accurate color reproduction and maximized performance" so hey, maybe the company licked it. If I get some face time with one, I'll be sure to see whether it suffers from the off-angle color issues LG says its 55-inch OLED design addresses.

The Samsung Super OLED TV will also offer the Smart Interaction and dual-core chipset of the company's other high-end TVs such as the UNES8000.

Αν η Toshiba χρέωνε χρυσάφι την zl1, γιατί πέρα απο τον επεξεργαστή είχε 500+ ζώνες local dimming, η sony πόσο θα χρεώνει με 6.000.000 led;
