Η ταινία είναι βασισμένη στη νουβέλα του Ιρλανδού συγγραφέα Bram Stoker και εξιστορεί τη ζωή του περιβόητου Vlad Tapes, του Ρουμάνου κατακτητή ο οποίος εξελίχθηκε στο μυθικό τέρας Dracula.

Στη σκηνοθεσία βρίσκεται ο Gary Shore που κάνει το σκηνοθετικό του ντεμπούτο, ενώ το σενάριο υπογράφουν οι Matt Sazama και Burk Sharpless (Gods Of Egypt -2016-), βασισμένο στους χαρακτήρες που δημιούργησε ο Bram Stoker.

Στον πρωταγωνιστικό ρόλο του Dracula βλέπουμε τον Luke Evans (The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug), ενώ τον πλαισιώνουν ακόμα οι Charles Dance (Game Of Thrones), Dominic Cooper (Need For Speed), Sarah Gadon (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), Art Parkinson (Game Of Thrones) και πολλοί άλλοι.

"Dracula Untold" explores the origin of Dracula, weaving vampire mythology with the true history of Prince Vlad the Impaler. It seeks to depict Dracula as a flawed hero in a tragic love story set in a dark age of magic and war. Luke Evans ("Fast & Furious 6," "Immortals") stars in the origin story as the man who became Dracula.

Luke Evans boards Dracula

Luke Evans has signed on to headline Universal Pictures' Dracula (Formerly Dracula Year Zero), says a story today at The Hollywood Reporter. He will play the leading role.


Said to explore the origin of the character, Dracula weaves vampire mythology with the true history of Prince Vlad the Impaler. It seeks to depict Dracula as a flawed hero in a tragic love story set in a dark age of magic and war.


Evans can be seen later this year in Justin Lin's Fast & Furious 6 and in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.


Gary Shore is attached to make his directorial debut with Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless providing the most recent draft of the screenplay. Michael De Luca will serve as producer.

Dracula takes Sarah Gadon

Sarah Gadon is just about set to take the female lead in Gary Shore's Dracula, Variety reports. She'd star opposite leading man Luke Evans in the title role.

Dominic Cooper eyes Dracula role

Dominic Cooper is eyeing a role in Gary Shore's Dracula, Variety reports. The Captain America: The First Avenger star would join Luke Evans in the title role and Sarah Gadon as the female lead.


UPDATE: Cooper is probably up for the role of "Mehmed", the main supporting role to Vlad the Impaler, a Turkish Sultan who takes Vlad under his wing and ultimately comes into conflict with him. Gadon would be playing "Mirena," an exotic and beautiful Transylvania woman who has a loving and caring relationship with Vlad. (These names may have changed since the earlier scripts.)

"[Don't think] of the Dracula that Bram Stoker created," Evans told earlier this week. "The Dracula that I'm going to be portraying is the origin of Dracula. It's about the man that became Dracula. Don't be too quick to think he's a bad guy. I'm just going to say that."


Cooper, who recently starred in Niels Arden Oplev's Dead Man Down, can soon be seen in Scott Waugh's Need for Speed, hitting theaters March 14, 2014.
