One of three new EGreats with identical casing but different chipsets. The A1080 uses the fastest of the Sigma chips (8643) and promises to do everything including all HD-Audio and BD-ISO. The look of the unit is impressive and the size is small for the level of specification it packs. In addition to the discreetly mounted internal 2.5" HDD, the A1080 has the unique feature of an external SATA port (not eSATA but full SATA mounted externally!). A USB3 slave port is promised, which would be a first sight of USB3 in a Media Player.
On paper the hardware is spectacular but everything will come down to firmware quality. Other similar 864x players have suffered from buggy firmware since their introduction at the end of 2009.
The A1080 looks great and promises the elusive 'everything'. We just hope it lives up to the promise. We have no firm launch date for any of the new EGreat players.
