The 80GB PlayStation 3 will not come to Europe. So says Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO and president David Reeves, before adding the caveat “at least for the foreseeable future.”
Talking to trade magazine MCV, he explains that the larger capacity model was launched in the Korean market because that county has a culture of downloading. Apparently Europeans don’t yet have a need for the space.
“We don’t see a requirement for launching this version in Europe,” he says. Here’s predicting that ‘the foreseeable future’ extends only up until the launch of the Xbox Elite 360 with its 120GB drive, and the level of existing PS3 stock is depleted.
