Η ελληνική Υpsilon συμμετείχε στo show του Hi-Fi News στο αεροδρόμιο του Heathrow στο Λονδίνο και απέσπασε πολύ καλές κριτικές. Το παρακάτω άρθρο είναι από το Stereophile.

If the Ypsilon room was anything to go by, Greece could be about to join the High End Club. Although Ypsilon has been around for some 12 years, they have only recently developed suitably serious products—such as the massively heatsinked SET-100 hybrid monoblock power amp, which has a tube input stage, a class-Α MOSFET output stage, and generates about 300W of waste heat. To reduce the grain generated by resistors, the Ypsilon preamp uses an attenuator based on a transformer with cotton insulation and 32 taps.

Ο ενισχυτής μονομπλόκ SET-100 της Ypsilon χαρακτηρίστηκε από το HiFi News αντικείμενο πόθου και φιγουράρει στις πρώτες σελίδες του περιοδικού...

"Ypsilon Electronics was a new name to me, so I wasn't sure what Jon Iverson and I would see when we entered its room. Whatever we expected, it wasn't the ginormous hybrid SET-100 monoblock amplifiers ($69,000/pair). Ypsilon believes that single-ended is better, so the 120W SET-100 is a hybrid single-ended power amplifier. It uses 8830 tubes in the input stage. Ypsilon has been in business in Greece for about 15 years, but this is the first time it has shown its wares in the US. The $69,000 price actually, was quoted as "€53,000, tax included." Shipping is not, presumably."

Αν δεν με απατά η μνήμη...

...ο κύριος στη φωτό είναι ο δημιουργός των Ύψιλον, Δημήτρης Μπακλαβάς. Τον είχα γνωρίσει το 1993 στο εργαστήριό του, κάπου στην Άνω Ηλιούπολη και μού είχε κάνει εντύπωση η σεμνότητα, αλλά και το βάθος των γνώσεών του.

Άξια η μετεξέλιξη και, ειλικρινά, εύχομαι εις ανώτερα!...//; - )

Τελικά για να αναγνωριστείς ως εξωτικός κατασκευαστής, γκουρού του ήχου, μάγος του hi end κλπ, πρέπει να πουλάς ένα προϊόν ΕΞΩΦΡΕΝΙΚΑ ακριβά. Αυτό και μόνον αρκεί.
