Nέο network music player από την Logitech, σχεδιασμένο να "τρέχει" ως προϊόν παράλληλα με το "κλασικό" Squeezebox 3.
Κάνει "μπαμ" ότι σκοπός τους ήταν να χτυπήσουν το Sonos και μάλλον το κατάφεραν αν κρίνω από τις δυνατότητες και τη διαφορά τιμής των δύο.

Όλα τα λεφτά το control, το οποίο, λόγω της open-source πλατφόρμας, αναμένεται στο μέλλον να...."ψήνει και καφέ"! :mrgree:
Στην ουσία πρόκειται για mini linux computer με ARM επεργαστή, built in WiFi, Wolfson DAC, IR emitter, headphone jack, και SD slot.

Το receiver από την άλλη είναι στην ουσία ένα Squeezebox 3 χωρίς οθόνη και με διαφορετικό DAC chip (της Wolfson ενώ το SB3 "φοράει" Burr-Brown).

Αναμένεται σε Ευρώπη και Αμερική μέσα στον Ιανουάριο με τιμή $399 (399 ευρώ στην Ευρώπη υποθέτω).





Logitech has just announced details for their latest Squeezebox, dubbed the Squeezebox Duet. The system controls your myriad musical devices with a wireless controller that can interface with multiple 802.11g Duet receivers. The controller's 2.4-inch LCD lets you browse your music library using a "familiar" scroll-wheel (now where do we recognize that from again?). But you're not limited to your own tunes, you can also tune-in internet radio providers like Rhapsody and Pandora. The Squeezebox Duet "network music system" comes with both receiver and controller for $400, and will be available in the US and Europe this month. Want additional receivers for other rooms, they'll be available for $150 while additional controllers will be available for $300.

Logitech's Squeezebox Duet is a handheld receiver that uses 802.11g to wirelessly route music throughout your house, emanating from strategically placed little receivers—the first one included in the $400 starter kit. If this sounds familiar, it's because the most excellent but also more expensive Sonos Digital Music System does something very similar.

The Duet is platform friendly, running on Macs, PCs and Linux machines and handling a buttload of non-DRM file formats, including Apple Lossless, FLAC, WMA Lossless as well as MP3, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, MP2, MusePack and WMA. There's no telling yet how well the Duet can organize all of your music, and if it can do the Sonos trick of playing the same song throughout the house with no delay. Still, it's clear that this is a direct attack, with the Duet packing a Sonos-like third-party music supply from Rhapsody and Pandora.

Υπόψην, η αντικατάσταση του SB3 δεν είναι στα άμεσα σχέδια της Slim Devices/Logitech.

Και τώρα τι κάνουμε;
Να ακυρώσω την παραγγελία που έχω βάλει για το Squeezebox και να περιμένω να χτυπήσω το Duet εάν και εφόσον το βρω σε stock (φυσικά σε κανένα μήνα το νωρίτερο και από εξωτερικό, για Ελλάδα ούτε λόγος) ή να πάρω το SB3 όπως είχα αποφασίσει και να τελειώνει το θέμα;! Αυτό το remote πολύ μούρη ρε παιδί μου! Χμφφφ...!!!

Το Squeezebox εχει μια πολύ λειτουργία.Βλέπει την μουσική by folder το οποίο για μένα είναι πολύ σημαντικό.Το Sonos για παράδειγμα αν το id tag του τραγουδιού είναι γραμμένο στα ελληνικά δεν το αναγνωρίζει βγάζει στο remote αλαμπουρνέζικα.
ΝΑΙ δεν πρέπει να διαβάζει ΚΑΙ ελληνικούς χαρακτήρες;
Να αλλάξω 500gb ελληνικά τραγούδια σε λατινικούς χαρακτήρες';
