Μαλιστα , δεν κρατιεμαι να μην σας πω πως μας ετοιμαζει και μια μεγαλη εκπληξη...

Θα παρακαλουσα οσους γνωριζουν την Αγγλικη να υποβαλουν τις ερωτησεις τους σε αυτη την γλωσσα.
Οσοι εχουν δυσκολια με τα Αγγλικα , ας θεσουν τα ερωτηματα τους η τις ευχες τους στα Ελληνικα και-τι να κανουμε-θα του μεταφρασω...

Let me start by asking some questions about the RS range:
- Witch is the major difference of the RS range to Silver range, (driver technology, cabinet design etc)?
- Where do you find the major improvement? Is it the frequency response? Is it the design?
- Finally, how much of a new speaker are we talking about? Do you recommend upgrading, to silver owners?

Well, first of all, I would like to welcome Mr. Hobbs in Greece. I feel that I have two simple questions in mind:
1. I'd like to know his opinion about what we call "matching", especially between a passive speaker and an amplifier. Is it a convenience marketing tool for the seller, to sell what he has in stock, or it really exists? If it exests, how can it be documented on a practical and technical basis. Is there any rule of thumb, to match a given speaker with an amp?
2. As far as I know, Monitor Audio has no involve in active speaker designs. Having in mind that the only drawback of such a product is its higher price, with respect to a passive one, is there any active speaker forthcoming from M. Audio, and, if not, why?

First of all welcome to Greece Mr Hobbs.

We all can see that hi-fi industry starts migrating to the far east. Especially in England the majority of the companies have moved to China for lower production costs. How do you plan to react to that?

Monitor Audio is world famous for their speakers. Do you plan to move in audio electronics (amplifiers, cd-dvd players etc)?

Hi, many thanks for the welcome. Matching has always been a point odf discussion for all speaker/amplifier manufacturers. At Monitor Audio we manufacture speakers to match a wide a range of products as we have entry level products such as Bronze. At this price level wehave to assume that the consumer could have electronics from any manufacturer from China, America, UK, Japan and even Taiwan. As a reference in our listening room at the production plant we have a range of electronics from Arcam, Denon, Yamaha, Musical Fidelity and Krell.
The speaker market today has become so competive and it is impossible to manufacturer a speaket to please everybody, so we create our own imaage and fan club.
Regarding active speaker technology, it is available from some manufacturers but the design of the technology still has another two years minimum before it is at a level we can call hifi.

do you (Monitro Audio) introduce any new sbuwoofer speaker models?
If yes please provide us with detailed info and if you have any comparison charts with the previous series.

Hi very interesting question and very topical. Manufacturing in China especially cabinets has become a soloution for quality and price. You would be suprised which ofthe major brands have their cabinets produced in Main Land China, including Monito Audio. Next time you are in a dealer check out the Radius Series. China today isin thesame position as Japan was in the late 70's the technology has advanced dramatically over the past 5 years.

welcome to this forum. I am more interested in the business side of this market. Do you think that small manufacturers can be sustained by the current and future market, or inevitably we will see more consolidation? Taking the example of TagMclaren and IAG, do you think that for a company to survive it needs to cater for the low budget as well as for the higher end part of the market? Is there room for specialist manufacturers, or are we driven to a mass production model?
Finally how can a smaller company compete with the likes of Sony et al, with the huge R&D budgets and the strong marketing and distribution? How do you approach this at Monitor Audio?
