There are computers specially made for gaming, video editing, home-theater, etc and now there is the audio computer which is a fusion of a high end audio system and a computer. Developed by premium audio equipment manufacturer Onkyo are the APX-2 and HDC-2.0A PC's. The APX-2 is powered by a Core 2 Duo T5500 processor at 1.66 Ghz and comes with 1GB RAM and a 500 Gig hard drive. Coming to the high end audio part it has a built in 100W×2ch (4 O) digital amplifier and a micro miniature Mini PCI sound card which has a signal-noise ratio of 120db and has the VLSC-2 circuit integrated which removes digital noise using a patented technology. The hard disk is enclosed in a ABS resin case with double enclosing which dont leak the drive's vibration and noise. The cooling fan is also enclosed in a rubber casing with special ducting which keep the noise levels as low as 22db. Onkyo has developed a special software PureSpace for audio playback which makes full use of the high end amplifier and sound card. The rear has the usual ports you would expect in a computer as well as a home theater. The unit measures 205×388×155mm, weighs 10.8 kgs and is available in Japan for 250,000 Yen.
The HDC-2.0A is the same as the APX-2 except that has a horizontal form factor and delivers a signal to noise ratio of 115db. The HDC-2.0A offers a variety of models starting from 219,800 Yen upto 319,800 Yen.
