A rare vintage 1960's Semprini ST 240 Modular Valve / Tube Amplifier consisting of Pre-Amplifier/mixer/Power Amplifier and Power Supply modules mounted in a perforated alloy metal case.
Superb quality construction, each module has an illuminated perspex front, metal control knobs, all alloy metal construction frame with quality components, each module plugs in with proper circuit connectors and slides out of the frame on rails, the whole amp is in a strong metal case with hinged lid .
It is built to recording studio equipment standard, similar modular construction and components and great attention to detail, hand built, with point to point wiring, no circuit boards.
Pre amp has controls for two microphone inputs and a mag (tape recorder) line level input, valves are 2x EF86 and 2x ECC83.
Single channel Power Amplifier module has volume, bass and treble controls, valves are 2x EL36, 1x ECC83 and 1x EF86 there is also a green "magic eye" valve output level indicator on the front faceplate, which looks wonderful.
Power supply unit has a mains voltage selector for any mains voltage, a mains switch and fuse at the front, mains connection socket at rear (cable with connector supplied)
At the rear there is one Mic 1 socket, two Mic 2 sockets and two Mag (tape) input connector sockets for the pre.
All connectors are Italian 3-pin Binson / Geloso type, similar to XLR.
These quality Italian amps were very expensive at the time and were made in limited quantities, along with other amplifiers and fantastic tape delay units for studios and musicians, they helped invent the quality pa system for bands and musicians, the whole concept and units were partly copied by Binson in their rack units.
