Sharp Corporation announces the introduction into the Japanese market of the LC-57GE2 AQUOS 57V-Inch*1 Full-Spec High-Definition LCD TV that achieves a contrast ratio (1500:1), response rate (4 msec) and viewing angle (176°) at the world’s highest levels*2. This new model features a newly developed 57V-inch black Advanced Super View full-spec high-definition LCD panel with resolution of 1,920 H x 1,080 V pixels that brings out all the stunning image quality and detail of digital HDTV broadcasts.
The newly developed 57V-inch black Advanced Super View full-spec high-definition LCD panel uses newly developed color filters to achieve a high contrast ratio (1500:1). By increasing the tonality of black hues, it reproduces true-to-life, velvety blacks in darkened rooms, while allowing users to enjoy sharp, clear pictures even in bright rooms. Moreover, the world’s fastest*3 response rate of 4 msec enables the LC-57GE2 to reproduce sharp, crisp images even of high-speed full-motion video such as sports scenes or fast-moving on-screen subtitles or scrolling text (“crawls”). Plus, the wide viewing angle of 176° side-to-side and top-to-bottom minimizes changes in color and reduces “white washout” when the screen is viewed from a skewed angle. Users will experience impressively beautiful, high-quality images on a big screen.
Further, the LC-57GE2 utilizes a newly developed Hybrid Backlight System based on a combination of red LEDs and fluorescent tubes to expand the reproducible color gamut to 95%*4 of the NTSC color space*5. This means superb rendering of a diverse range of intermediate tones such as the bright color of healthy skin.
The evolved LCD panel technologies and imaging technologies brought together in this model enable Sharp to offer the LC-57GE2 as a large-screen, full-spec high-definition TV that delivers the utmost in high-end video reproduction based on the dramatically improved contrast, video response, viewing angle and color reproduction naturally demanded in a big screen.
