TOKYO (Nikkei)--A joint venture led by Sony Corp. (6758) will take over a plant run by Pioneer Corp. (6773) in Kagoshima and in late 2009 begin mass-producing field emission display panels (FEDs), which excel in both picture quality and energy conservation. These "dream panels," long regarded as the next generation of technology after liquid crystal displays, are finally about to see the light of day as the product of a Sony carve-out.
